Edge Advertised For 8/18 WWE SmackDown In Toronto

WWE is returning to Toronto, and Edge will be at the show.

Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena announced that “The Rated-R Superstar” will be at the venue when it hosts the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown. AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, Bianca Belair, Asuka, and The Usos were also pictured in the announcement.

This will mark Edge’s first show in Toronto, his hometown, since the August 22, 2022 edition of WWE RAW. There, he defeated Damian Priest in a hard-fought match. After that particular show went off the air, the WWE Hall of Famer noted that he’d like to have his last match when WWE came back to Toronto. That return trip to Toronto has now been confirmed, but it might not mean Edge will still announce his retirement.

Since his initial comments at that August 2022 RAW taping, Edge has clarified his comments about his potential retirement. During the Elimination Chamber post-show press conference, Edge said that he’s having fun and not really thinking that far ahead, but he’d still like his retirement match to be in Canada.

“I try not to make any firm decisions, but here’s what I can say about tonight — for nine years, I was retired. I come back and I get to team with my wife, who I married while I was retired and had two beautiful little girls with. The fact that we get to do this at all? I never thought this would happen. So we’re out there and if it looks like we’re having fun, it’s because we are. We’re having a blast. I get to stand shoulder to shoulder with this woman, I get to hit a Shatter Machine, which we’ve never even attempted before and pulled off, and she hasn’t wrestled a match in a year and one month and hops in there tonight in that kind of pressure cooker against two talents like that. Man, I’m just ecstatic. I’m not even thinking about what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow, let alone what I’m going to do five, six, seven or eight months from now. But I will say I would like it to be in Canada.”

In his most recent match, Edge competed on the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he came up short in a Triple Threat Match that included AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio.
