AEW Dynamite Results (7/19/23): Blood & Guts Match, Blind Eliminator Finals

All Elite Wrestling delivered a star-studded show with the July 29 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The Golden Elite faced Blackpool Combat Club in the Blood & Guts match. Plus, Adam Cole and MJF clashed with Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia on the finals of the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, and HOOK defended the FTW Championship against “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.

The results are as follows:

FTW Championship: HOOK (c) vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

Perry’s entrance music hits, but he doesn’t come out. The lights go out, and a video on the entrance screen shows Perry burying someone in a desert. A car pulls up, and Perry gets in. The car drives off, and classical music plays. Perry makes his entrance wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket. The challenger is announced as Jack Perry, as “Jungle Boy” is no more.

Perry charges HOOK in the corner, but the champion has it scouted and unloads with some strikes. The match spills out of the ring, and the former tag team partners brawl at ringside. Back in the ring, Perry rakes HOOK’s eyes and gains the upper hand. Perry maintains the advantage as he continues to control the action. HOOK rallies with a T-bone suplex on the outside. Perry plays lures HOOK in and drops him with a DDT on the floor. HOOK fires up with a German suplex. He gets a two-count with another German suplex.

Perry grabs the referee and kicks HOOK below the belt. An elbow strike to the head earns Perry a two count. Perry goes to hit HOOK with the title, and HOOK evades it. The referee gets knocked down, and HOOK suplexes Perry. The challenger hits HOOK with the title and pins HOOK for the win.

Winner and new FTW Champion: Jack Perry

Don Callis and Chris Jericho are shown eating together, as they are seemingly in cahoots.

MJF and Adam Cole do some more bonding. Cole says they have to work as a team, and he takes MJF to a Chinese restaurant. They eat spicy food and inadvertently get drunk. The odd couple tag team partners say they’re one thing left to do, and they move to clothesline the waiter before the camera cuts away.

In the parking lot, a limo pulls up. Don Callis and Chris Jericho get out. Alex Marvez asks Callis whether a decision has been made, and he calls Marvez an idiot. Callis and Jericho walk away together.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Kyla Sparks

Baker quickly takes control with a suplex and a neckbreaker. She makes Sparks tap out to the Lockjaw.

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.

In an interview, MJF and Adam Cole are asked whether they are surprised by their chemistry. Cole says they’re two of the best on the planet, and no one can stop them. MJF hypes up their match, and they reveal that they got each other matching gear and matching jackets.

Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Finals: MJF & Adam Cole vs. Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia

Chris Jericho comes out after Garcia and Guevara make their entrance. He heads over to the commentary table. MJF enters, and he is surprised when Cole comes out to a remix of their theme songs. MJF hugs Cole, and they head to the ring. Garcia and MJF get into a dance-off. MJF leaves the ring and plays some music on the PA system. Disco lights fill the arena, and Guevara and Garcia start dancing. MJF takes over as he starts dancing. It’s time for Cole’s turn, and he dances too.

Garcia and Guevara attack Cole and MJF and kick-start the action. MJF gains the upper hand. Guevara breaks up a double clothesline. MJF runs the ropes as if he’s doing to dive, but he instead strikes a pose.

Cole gets yanked off the apron, and Garcia and Guevara isolate MJF. They double-team MJF and keep him grounded. Guevara stops MJF from tagging out. MJF rallies and collapses head-first onto Guevara’s crotch. Cole makes the hot tag and clears house with a flurry of offense. He rocks Garcia with a superkick. MJF and Cole call for a double clothesline. Guevara ducks it and hits both men with a Spanish fly. Cole blasts Guevara with a super kick. Garcia hits Cole and MJF with a chop block. Garcia locks Cole in the Dragon-Slayer, but Cole reaches the ropes. MJF initially hesitates, but he dives through the ropes. Cole drops Garcia with a Destroyer. MJF and Cole go for the double clothesline, and they hit it for the win.

Winner: MJF and Adam Cole

Jericho comes to the stage, and Garcia and Guevara walk right by him. Cole gets the title from the referee, and MJF snaps as he yells at Cole. MJF asks Cole why he was holding the title. Cole tries to explain himself, and they hug. Cole turns his back, and MJF immediately loses his smile. AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR come out and stare down Cole and MJF. The two teams talk trash.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Best Friends, Nick Wayne, and Darby Allin. Allin is asked about the Royal Rampage match, and he asks Cassidy to give AR Fox a shot at the International Championship because he owes him a favor.

Blood & Guts Match: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta), Konosuke Takeshita & PAC vs. The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, The Young Bucks, and Kota Ibushi)

Kenny Omega and Claudio Castagnoli start the match. They take the fight to each other. Claudio drops Omega with a backbreaker. Omega gains the upper hand and stomps on Castagnoli in the corner. Castagnoli slams Omega and takes control. Omega rallies and slams Castagnoli head-first to the mat. PAC is the next entrant. He takes Omega down with a dropkick. He drills the former world champion with some kicks. Castagnoli and PAC gang up on Omega. Hangman Page enters the match and evens the odds.

Page slams PAC and drops Castagnoli with a clothesline. He dishes out a powerbomb and hits a moonsault off the ropes onto Castagnoli. Omega slams Castagnoli into the cage. Jon Moxley enters the match and gouges Omega and Page with a fork. Moxley jabs Omega with a fork and does the same to Page.

“The Purveyor of Violence” dumps broken glass on the canvas. Nick Jackson enters the match and dropkicks Moxley onto the broken glass. Nick superkicks Castagnoli and Moxley. He clotheslines PAC and drops Claudio with a facebuster. Jackson slams Castagnoli onto the glass with a hurricanrana. Omega gets suplexed onto the glass. Wheeler Yuta enters the match and gouges Nick Jackson with a fork. He suplexes Nick onto a chair. Blackpool Combat Club continues to control the action. Matt Jackson enters the match and clears house with a flurry of offense.

The Golden Elite gains the upper hand. Omega slams Yuta onto some broken class. Konosuke Takeshita enters the match. Takeshita suplexes both Jackson brothers. He punches a chair into Omega’s face and levels him with a lariat. Moxley pulls out a bed of nails. Moxley kicks Omega onto the bed of nails and slams him onto it. Kota Ibushi enters the match and fights off Yuta when he tries to attack the former world champion.

Ibushi takes the fight to Blackpool Combat Club and dishes out some strikes. Ibushi kicks Moxley, and he falls onto the bed of nails.

Omega and Ibushi work together to gain the upper hand. Castagnoli breaks up the BTE Trigger. Matt Jackson continues to fight Yuta on the outside. Yuta climbs up to the top of the cage, and Matt Jackson follows him up. They brawl on top of the cage. Jackson hits his series of North Lights suplexes on the cage. He goes to suplex Yuta off the cage, but Wheeler counters with a DDT. Yuta climbs back down and returns to the ring. Moxley drops Ibushi with a piledriver as Blackpool Combat Club remains in control. Matt Jackson pours thumbtacks down from the top of the cage. PAC and Castagnoli get back-dropped onto the tacks. The Golden Elite rallies. Matt Jackson climbs back down.

Ibushi and the Young Bucks triple-team PAC. Omega and the Bucks take turns diving onto PAC. Yuta suplexes Matt Jackson. PAC vaults off part of the cage and sends Matt through a table with a double stomp. Both teams regroup and brawl. Page levels Takeshita with a lariat. Bodies are flying as the competitors dish out strikes. PAC gets suplexed onto some glass. PAC counters the One-Winged Angel into the Brutalizer. The BCC locks in stereo submissions, and Castagnoli sends Matt Jackson swinging. Ibushi gets free and breaks the holds. Blackpool Combat Club gains the advantage again. Castagnoli accidentally uppercuts PAC. PAC argues with him, and the BCC has to separate them.

PAC flips Castagnoli off and walks away after he uses bolt-cutters to open the door. The Golden Elite rallies. Page hits Castaganoli with the Buckshot Lariat. The Golden Elite hangs up on Yuta. Page handcuffs Moxley to the ropes. Callis calls for Takeshita to leave the match, and he does. Yuta’s face gets driven into a tack-covered shoe. Hangman and Matt Jackson choke Yuta out with a chain for the win. It wasn’t quite caught on camera, but the commentary team noted that Moxley submitted/surrendered to save Yuta.

Winners: The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, The Young Bucks, and Kota Ibushi)
