Jack Perry Buries Jungle Boy, Wins FTW Title On 7/19 AEW Dynamite

Jungle Boy is no more. Instead, Jack Perry is here, and shocked HOOK to win the FTW Championship tonight on AEW Dynamite.

During the FTW Championship match at tonight’s Blood and Guts-themed episode of Dynamite, Perry “buried” the persona of Jungle Boy in a clip that preceded his entrance. While Jungle Boy’s theme music played before the match, a video popped up that showed Perry burying something, before a limo pulled up to drive him away. Afterward, Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5” began playing, and out came the new Perry.

During the match, Perry would eventually get the upper hand thanks to some late-match shenanigans. Toward the end of the match, Perry tried to attack HOOK with the title, but HOOK evaded it. Instead, the referee would get knocked down, and after taking a suplex from HOOK, Perry would eventually hit the champion with his own belt before pinning and winning the man and ending his undefeated streak to claim his first singles title.

For a recap of how the match ended, check out below courtesy of our live, play-by-play coverage of AEW’s special Blood and Guts-themed episode of AEW Dynamite:

Perry’s entrance music hits, but he doesn’t come out. The lights go out, and a video on the entrance screen shows Perry burying someone in a desert. A car pulls up, and Perry gets in. The car drives off, and classical music plays. Perry makes his entrance wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket. The challenger is announced as Jack Perry, as “Jungle Boy” is no more.

Perry charges HOOK in the corner, but the champion has it scouted and unloads with some strikes. The match spills out of the ring, and the former tag team partners brawl at ringside. Back in the ring, Perry rakes HOOK’s eyes and gains the upper hand. Perry maintains the advantage as he continues to control the action. HOOK rallies with a T-bone suplex on the outside. Perry plays lures HOOK in and drops him with a DDT on the floor. HOOK fires up with a German suplex. He gets a two-count with another German suplex.

Perry grabs the referee and kicks HOOK below the belt. An elbow strike to the head earns Perry a two count. Perry goes to hit HOOK with the title, and HOOK evades it. The referee gets knocked down, and HOOK suplexes Perry. The challenger hits HOOK with the title and pins HOOK for the win.
