Anthony Bowens Vows To Be AEW’s First Gay World Champion

One of the most popular stars in AEW is Anthony Bowens. He recently revealed his ambitions to be the one to create history in the Jacksonville-based promotion by capturing the World Heavyweight Championship.

Anthony Bowens has been wrestling since 2013. He got his start with WrestlePro and his rise to stardom came after he signed with All Elite Wrestling.

The fans got behind the 32-year-old star after he joined Max Caster to form The Acclaimed. The duo have captured the AEW World Tag Team Championships once in their career. Both Caster and Bowens are currently holding the World Trios Championships along with Billy Gunn. They teamed with the WWE Hall of Famer to defeat The House of Black at the All In Pay-per-view.

In a recent interview with Out.com, Anthony Bowens opened up about his ambitions in the Jacksonville-based promotion. He mentioned that he wants to be the first openly gay wrestler to capture a company’s top champion. He also has ambitions to become a Grandslam Champion in the Tony Khan-led promotion.

“As much as I hope The Acclaimed, the tag team I’m a part of, stays forever, I would love to become AEW’s first gay World Champion. I got the Tag Team titles checked off the list, but there hasn’t been a gay World Champion. I would also like to be a Grand Slam champion, too, which is where you win every title once,” Anthony Bowens said.
