Gail Kim: ‘I Got Rattled, But I’m OK’ After Nasty Bump At IMPACT 1000 Tapings

Gail Kim says she’s doing OK after footage of a rough-looking bump surfaced online.

Gail Kim returned to the ring at the IMPACT 1000 tapings over the weekend. During her match, Gail took a scary-looking bump after Velvet Sky pulled her off of the ring apron. Gail smacked her head hard on the floor, but she continued the match.

Now, Gail has responded to fans’ concerns about her after the bump, and she wants everyone to know she’s doing fine.

I’m ok just so everyone knows and is updated. I woke up to a lot of people concerned,” Gail wrote. “So yes, I got rattled but I’m ok.”

Stay Tuned

Gail later responded to a fan’s comment and said they shouldn’t focus on the negative part of her situation. She reiterated that she was OK, and she “did much more after that.”

“I guess everyone will have to tune in to impact 1000,” Gail added.

Gail Kim teamed with Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Trinity, Jordynne Grace and a mystery partner against Angelina Love, Deonna Purrazzo, Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans and a mystery partner.

IMPACT 1000 will air on Thursday, September 14 on AXS and YouTube.

Perfect Situation

Gail Kim previously spoke with WrestleZone and said that her comeback would have to be “perfect” to even consider it.

Kim had done several interviews since her (now-previous) retirement about finding closure in that last match against Tessa Blanchard. Gail has considered her health too and didn’t want to spoil what she considers a perfect sendoff unless it made sense.

“People still ask [me to return]. I actually got a formal kind of inquiry recently as well. [IMPACT] has asked me in the past to face Deonna [Purrazzo] and things like that. But for me, I value my career and hold it dearly, so I don’t want to ruin the status. I was okay with the last match. I was great with it, and so do I go back — in my crazy perfectionist mind — and ruin that? So it would take a lot,” Gail said. “It would have to be the perfect opponent. It would have to be the perfect situation for me to be able to put my back at risk again because I have no disc in my L4 or L5. I work very hard on the daily to have a normal day-to-day life.

“If I did come out of retirement, then there’s a high percentage of a back surgery, and I don’t want to go through that again. So it would have to be something quite impressive for me to come out of retirement because I get satisfaction from helping the women grow in the division,” Gail stated. “I really, truly feel like I don’t miss the ring because of that. So I’m so grateful that I don’t miss the ring. To be honest, I was deathly afraid of that, as all athletes are. So if I’m feeling happy and healthy, why would I?”
