Update On Serena Deeb’s Absence From AEW Television

A new report shines some light on Serena Deeb‘s absence from AEW TV.

Serena Deeb had been a featured member of AEW’s women’s division, but she has not appeared on-screen for nearly a year. She last wrestled at an AEW Dark: Elevation taping in October 2022.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, this past summer, AEW sources noted that Deeb was not injured. A previous report from Fightful noted that Deeb was sidelined and not factored into creative.

Per Sapp, Deeb has said that she had been dealing with a serious injury, and she is working to get cleared. However, Sapp cited AEW sources who noted that Deeb had a serious disagreement with management, which led to her absence.

The report notes that Deeb was very vocal about her use on AEW TV and the time she received. Sources noted that it “entered the area of disrespect”, and Seeb accused Tony Khan and management of cutting time for her matches and not informing her until she got to the ring.

Sapp wrote that, on AEW’s side, they claimed that they got a list of times and showed Deeb that her allotted time was not being cut. Sapp noted that it is typical for producers and coaches not to inform talent of times until they are finalized.

Sources close to Deeb said they hadn’t heard this story directly from her, but members of the AEW roster and others in the company have. However, the situation still led to Deeb having heat.

There is no word on when Serena Deeb will return to AEW TV. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
