Raquel Rodriguez: I Think There Is A Bit Of A Curse On The WWE Women’s Tag Division

Raquel Rodriguez agrees that there is a bit of a curse on WWE‘s women’s tag team division.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship have had a run of misfortune, between questionable booking and a string of injuries. For example, Sonya Deville tore her ACL shortly after she won the titles with Chelsea Green.

Speaking with Joey Hayden of The Dallas Morning News, former champion Raquel Rodriguez was asked whether she thinks there is a curse on the titles.

“[Laughs] Oh my gosh. You know, I don’t like to be too superstitious. But yeah, I do. I do think there is a little bit of a curse on the women’s tag team division. Liv [Morgan] and I, from the very beginning when we started tagging together, we told each other that this was something we wanted to build up.

“We wanted to make the women’s tag team titles something as important. They should be on the same level, on the same pedestal as the World Women’s Championship, as any championship really on the WWE roster, even the men’s ones.”

Raquel Rodriguez: I’m Relieved I’m Not In The Tag Title Picture Right Now

Raquel Rodriguez then noted that she and Morgan wanted to elevate the titles, but the “curse” has hamstrung the division. She admitted that she is somewhat relieved that she is not in the title picture right now. Rodriguez also stated that she hopes the current champions, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, can be the champions they want to be.

“That’s the level that we wanted to elevate them to,” Raquel Rodriguez. “But because of this curse, you know, it’s just really been affecting team after team after team. So I’m kind of relieved that right now I’m not in that picture at the moment, even though I miss my buddy Liv. But at the same time, I feel for Chelsea [Green], I feel for Piper [Niven]. I just hope that they’re able to be the champions that I know they want to be representing those titles.”

During the interview, Raquel Rodriguez provided an update on Liv Morgan’s recovery. Check out her comments here.
