The Current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay was announced as AEW’s blockbuster signing at the Full Gear pay-per-view. Recently Claudio Castagnoli shared his thoughts on the signing.
While being interviewed by WrestleTalk’s Luke Owen, the Swiss Superman shared his thoughts on the Aerial Assassin signing with All Elite Wrestling.
“I think it’s great for him. It’s great for European wrestling like you (Luke Owen) said, in general, to have another representative on that level on television you know? And for a global audience. I think it will just grow wrestling, UK wrestling, in Europe in general. And I think it will connect with a new audience. So I think it’s great and I think it’s cool to see people kind of choosing their own path and being able to do that.
“That’s the same with having All In this year and next year in England. When I was growing up, there were no such big wrestling events. If you wanted to go to something like that, you had to go to the United States. And it just became increasingly more difficult with visas and everything, so to have a event, like a stadium event in Europe and it’s like, ‘Oh yeah. I’ll just take a train or drive or whatever.’ You know what I mean? Like take a one-hour plane ride. That’s amazing you know? And I think it’s great and yeah, good for Will, good for AEW… It shows you, where there’s a Will there’s a way.” Claudio Castagnoli said.
