Dakota Kai Provides Update On Her Recovery From Torn ACL

Dakota Kai’s recovery continues, and she clarifies how she is still not cleared.

Dakota Kai suffered a torn ACL in May 2023 and she has been recovering ever since. Despite her injury, she has been featured on WWE programming alongside the rest of Damage CTRL.

Speaking on a Twitch stream, Dakota Kai responded to fans who noted that she can run and jump. She explained that there is a set date for when she can be cleared, as the doctors have a protocol that she has to follow.

“I’m so sick of seeing people saying, ‘Look, she can clearly run and jump. But she’s not cleared still?’ No, that’s not how it works, you guys,” Dakota Kai said. “Obviously, I can run and jump because I’ve been doing it for the last few months. But they have a set date for when you actually get cleared because I have to still do matches, and they have to check all the boxes until I’m actually cleared. I’m not gonna be in a wheelchair for nine months, and then suddenly, after the nine months, just stand up and be like, I’m cured. That’s not how it works. That’s not how it works.

“If you think that’s how rehab works, where I’m just in a wheelchair for nine months and I suddenly stand up, I’m like, ‘Oh, bless, I’m freaking walking and running and jumping, it’s a miracle.’ No. Absolutely not, no. I have been running, yes. I have been jumping, yes. That’s not how rehab for any sport goes. Just putting that out there, so please stop with the ‘she’s lying, she’s faking it.’ Do you think it’s been my choice to not wrestle for nine months? Do you think that’s been a choice? No.”

Kai previously said that she would not be cleared until Januar 2024.

As of this writing, it is not known when Dakota Kai will return to the ring. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
