Eddie Kingston Still Frequently Thinks About Setting Chris Jericho On Fire

Eddie Kingston still thinks about setting Chris Jericho on fire on a regular basis.

While this sounds horrific, it is in reference to a match that involved the two men in AEW. At AEW Double or Nothing 2022, The Blackpool Combat Club, Santana & Ortiz and Eddie Kingston faced off against the Jericho Appreciation Society in an “Anarchy in the Arena” match.

Towards the end of the match, a bloodied and sadistic-looking Kingston emerged from the entrance ramp. He was clutching a can of gasoline. He proceeded to the ring, dousing Chris Jericho with it in an attempt to set him alight.

This was thwarted his teammate, Bryan Danielson, which eventually saw their side lose the match.

In an interview with WrestlingNews.co, Kingston revealed that he still thinks about setting Jericho on fire. He says that people think about him nearly doing the deed “at least twice a day”, in what has become a legendary image in AEW history.

“At least twice a day, someone thinks about that…It runs through my head at least once while I’m like, ‘Man, I was really close to setting them on fire….maybe the PPV buys would have went up afterwards. Like, ‘Hey, did you see Chris Jericho get set on fire by Eddie Kingston?’ and they’re like, ‘No.’ They’re like, ‘Oh, I gotta order it.’”

Bryan Danielson Stopped Eddie Kingston Setting Chris Jericho Alight To Save Himself

While Danielson was on Kingston’s team during that match, he had a good reason for stopping him murder Jericho live in PPV.

As he emptied the can on Jericho, a lot of fluid got on Danielson. As he explained on an AEW “Road to” video, Danielson had to stop Kingston in order to avoid being burned alive himself.

“Anarchy in the Arena was what they said it was going to be. It was anarchy in the arena. I had Chis Jericho dead to rights. Eddie Kingston, of all people, a member of my own team, comes down and pours lighter fluid on both Chris Jericho and myself.”

“And he was going to light Chris Jericho on fire, which in turn would have also lit me on fire. Obviously, Eddie and I got into it. Chris Jericho took advantage of that. And because of that, I’ve been on the shelf since the end of May.”
