To borrow a phrase from Kurt Angle — It’s true, it’s damn true!
Jon Bernthal is back as Frank Castle. Now, fans have a better look at his Punisher costume. New photos from the set of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again showed Bernthal and Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) on the set.
For those unaware, Bernthal is married to Erin Angle, Kurt Angle‘s niece. This would make Bernthal Kurt’s nephew (in-law) through marriage.
Bernthal is also known for his role as Shane Walsh on The Walking Dead. He originally played Frank Castle in Netflix’s The Punisher for two seasons between 2017 and 2019. Daredevil: Born Again is currently filming in New York, but the series still does not have a confirmed release date.
Kurt has spoken about his relationship with Bernthal before, including the time he said he tried to land a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt said he actually has tried to be part of the MCU, but nothing ever materialized.
“[Laughs] I’ve tried many times. It’s not that easy. I did get Kevin Feige’s contact information, and I reached out to him and told him that I’d be interested in doing a Marvel movie,” Kurt explained. “He actually responded to me, but nothing ever came of it.”
Co-host Paul Bromwell responded by saying, “Except for an autographed picture.”
“Yeah, for my nephew-in-law Jon Bernthal,” Angle said. “He actually gave me his contact information, so I talked to him, but unfortunately nothing has occurred since then.”
