The WWE future of AJ Styles is uncertain as his contract is reportedly set to expire in the coming months.
Although he’s worked a handful of live events for the company in recent months, AJ Styles has been off WWE programming since losing to Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle back in June. But a new report has fans wondering if he’ll even return to SmackDown at all.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), sources within the industry are stating that Styles’ contract with WWE is up either late this year or early next year. Sapp hasn’t heard if there have been any efforts by WWE to re-sign him. He also isn’t certain if they currently have any plans for him at all.
Despite the reports, Sapp stresses that he has not gained confirmation on this news in an official capacity from WWE, Styles, or his reps at this time.
