Jeff Jarrett has faced a lot of big names in his pro wrestling career, and he put a current AEW star near the top of his list.
Jarrett spoke with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay about his current role with Acclaim and how he’s approaching what he says will be his final contract as an in-ring performer. The “Last Outlaw” was asked for his thoughts on Hangman Adam Page’s journey to reclaiming the AEW World Championship. Jarrett said he not only respects Hangman as a performer, but also gave him high praise, calling him one of the toughest opponents, as well as one he had great chemistry with.
“I’ve said it multiple times, if there’s one guy, much like a video game from way back, but it’s brought into the future, Hangman has some real grit, some real drive that is somewhat of a throwback. He has a fundamental set of beliefs that really drives him. So I really connected with him, chemistry in the ring as well. But I got a mad respect for him as a human being and as a champion. I could not be happier for him.
“But I know one thing, it’s hard to get to the mountaintop. It’s harder to stay on top, so we’ll see how he turns out. He’s got his work cut out, but I got a lot of respect. My time in the ring with him is, and I’ve said this a couple of times, I put him on my top five list of most respected or toughest opponents or one that I’ve had the most chemistry with.”
