Kris Statlander felt calm on the day she won the AEW Women’s World Championship at All Out 2025.
At AEW All Out, Toni Storm defended her Women’s World Championship in a fatal four-way match against Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter, and Thekla. Storm had held the title for 217 days and was expected to retain the title by the fans. However, Statlander pulled off a shocking win, pinning Storm with a roll-up and becoming the new champion.
Looking back on her historic victory, on the Close Up With Renee Paquette, Kris Statlander said she felt prepared and clam before the match. “I mean, I was weirdly very calm that day, I don’t know why. I feel like maybe it’s because I knew that I was, it’s been four years since the last title match that I had and, or the Women’s World Championship title match that I had, I think I knew in myself that I had been preparing for this moment for so long that I, before I even stepped out there, I knew what I was ready to accomplish.”
Kris Statlander says she always knew it was her turn to be AEW Women’s World Champion
“I knew that it was my turn to, take the throne, and I just felt so at peace knowing that I felt like I finally had reached my turn. I had saw some quote that was actually about me finally winning and they had said something like, I had proven that what’s delayed is not always denied and I was like that really is very true because I always knew that like, just because of my injuries, just because of things happening the way they did.”
“Like I knew that that never meant that I wasn’t supposed to be where I am now. It just, I, and I’ve always been an advocate for saying that. Like, I don’t think I would have been the wrestler that I am today had I not gone through those injuries. So I truly just feel like almost at peace knowing that this is where I’ve been the whole- where I was supposed to be the whole time.” [H/T: Fightful]
