AEW Collision Results
Tony Schiavone welcomes us to the broadcast. ‘Hangman’ Adam Page’s music hits. The AEW World Champion is here to kick off the show. Page calls out The Opps for turning against him. He says Joe, Shibata and Hobbs went to war with The Death Riders for nearly a year, only to turning their backs on Hangman. Page says he gave Joe a shot at the AEW World Title at WrestleDream, but Joe “couldn’t kill the Hangman.”
Page looks directly in the camera and questions why did the three of them stabbed him in the back. Hangman tells The Opps they should’ve known better what happens when they make an enemy out of him. Page corrects Joe’s “dumb ass” by telling him Joe isn’t the one doing hunting, it’s Hangman. Page promises he’ll do far worse than just embarrass Joe when he finds him — he’ll ruin his entire life.
We see PAC’s pre-taped promo ahead of his match against The Conglomeration’s Tomohiro Ishii. PAC promises to take care of Ishii as the rest of The Death Riders, minus Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, watch from the back.
PAC vs. Tomohiro Ishii
- The finish of the match saw PAC hit Ishii with a running lariat for the win.
Winner: PAC
Grade: B-
It appears PAC has abandoned the corkscrew shooting star press for the running lariat. This writer will have to get used to seeing him compete in a singlet. This new gear, and the apparent finisher, is such a massive departure from his old identity. As for the match, it was slow — hard-hitting — but slow, which isn’t what I’m used to seeing in PAC’s matches. All the muscle mass has impacted his athleticism but if that is what keeps him away from injury, so be it. Ishii was seen favoring his neck after the pilderiver. Let’s hope he’s okay.
Thekla vs. Mina Shirakawa
- The finish of the match saw Thekla hit Shirawaka with her spear and death trap submission combo for the win.
Winner: Thekla
Grade: B+
This match was extremely physical. Props to the ladies for trying to take each other’s head off with those brutal forearm strikes. Thekla extended her undefeated streak with a win over Mina Shirakwa. What’s next for the Toxic Spider? A showdown with former AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm may be?
Lexi Nair is backstage with Anna Jay and Tay Melo. They talk about their chances of becoming the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions. TayJay are interrupted by Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize, who introduce themselves as the best tag team on the independent circuit. Tay tells them they look forward to challenge but they shouldn’t have interrupted them.
MxM TV are in the ring. Mansoor tells the crowd to shut up because it’s time for the MxM TV casting call. Mansoor tells the fans in attendance all they are doing is gaining weight. He then hits ring announcer Arkady Aura with a barrage of insults before CMLL’s Olympia arrives to answer the open challenge.
Olympia vs. Taya Valkyrie
The finish of the match saw Olympia drop Taya with a slam for the win.
Winner: Olympia
Grade: N/A
This was a squash match and nothing else. Olympia covered a lot of air with her dive on MxM. That was the only highlight of the match for this writer.
Bryan Keith vs. Ace Austin
- The finish of the match saw Ace Austin plant Bryan Keith with a modified neckbreaker for the win.
Winner: Ace Austin
Grade: B+
A solid match between Bryan Keith and Ace Austin. This could’ve used more time because these two men were starting to bring out all the big hits. Ace Austin is smooth in the ring. Keith has one of the most devastating headbutts today.
Lexi Nair is backstage with Don Callis. Nair asks Callis what’s going on between Okada and Takeshita. Callis said Okada and Takeshita are like siblings. Siblings always fight but Callis is more concerned about adding more titles to his family. He then announces a summit for next week’s Dynamite.
We see Dalton Castle and The Outrunners backstage with Lexi Nair. They get interrupted by The Acclaimed’s constant bickering and shouting. All the commotion ends as soon as Caster and Bowen get away from the camera. Castle and The Outrunners get back for their interview, only to be told by Lexi they’ve been live all along.
HOOK vs. Griff Garrison
- The finish of the match saw HOOK submit Garrison with a chokehold for the win.
Winner: HOOK
Grade: N/A
How long has HOOK being doing squash matches? Far too long!
Olympia is backstage with a message for Mercedes Mone. The Amazon wants a shot at the CMLL Women’s World Champion, and she wants it next week on AEW Collision.
Next Wednesday on Fright Night Dynamite
- Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet vs. Samoa Joe vs. HOOK – Winner faces ‘Hangman’ Adam Page for AEW World Title at Full Gear
- Queen Aminata & Jamie Hayter vs. Sisters of Sin (Skye Blue & Julia Hart) – Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal
- The Don Callis Family Summit
$400K Tag Team Main Event
The finish of the match saw JetSpeed hit their respective finishers on Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler for the win.
Winners: JetSpeed and Jurassic Express
Overall Grade: B-
Not a big fan of this week’s Collision. The opening match was underwhelming. Bryan Keith versus Ace Austin needed more time. Thekla and Shirawaka had the better match of the night. We saw former WWE star Tegan Nox make her AEW debut as Nixon Newell. Oh, and before I bid adieu, Tony Khan added the following match to next week’s Dynamite.
