AEW Dynamite Results

Excalibur welcomes us to an all-new episode of AEW Dynamite. We see MJF and Brody King hyping up their world title eliminator match. Kenny Omega appears in a pre-taped promo referencing last week’s attack. Don Callis addresses the upcoming six-man tag team contest featuring his men against the Death Riders. Callis says Andrade will leave Omega for dead when they collide later tonight. We also hear from the participants in the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship match between the Babes of Wrath and MegaBad.

The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia & PAC) vs. Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, El Clon & Josh Alexander)

  • The finish of the match saw Konosuke Takeshita hit Raging Fire on Daniel Garcia for the win.

Winners: Konosuke Takeshita, El Clon & Josh Alexander

Grade B+

A solid match to kick off the action on AEW Dynamite. Moxley’s tantrums did a disservice to PAC. I think the Death Riders will eventually turn against Mox. As for the closing stretch, Garcia took a lot of punishment from El Clon and Josh Alexander to set up the finisher. Takeshita vs. Mox for the AEW Continental Championship is teased once again after the match.

Serve Strickland and Prince Nana Backstage Promo Segment

Renee Paquette asks Swerve Strickland where his focus is following last week’s major loss to Andrade El Idolo. Prince Nana says they are focused on the top because one loss does not mean they will lose focus. The pair leaves as Renee hypes up tonight’s singles match between Kenny Omega and Andrade.

Will Ospreay Vignette

A video package featuring Will Ospreay is shown. Excalibur notes that Ospreay had successful surgery and is working hard to make his return but does not provide a timeline for the Aerial Assassin’s comeback.

Orange Cassidy & Toni Storm vs. Jordan Oasis & Brittnie Brooks

  • The finish of the match saw Orange Cassidy hit Jordan Oasis with an Orange Punch for the win.

Winners: Orange Cassidy & Toni Storm

After the match, Cassidy has second thoughts about competing in their scheduled mixed tag team match against Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir at AEW Grand Slam: Australia. Cassidy says he likes his hair. Storm questions suggesting the stipulation where the loser will have their head shaved bald. She says she’d look like a “boiled egg” and an “angry penis” if she loses her hair. Still, she’ll go ahead and make Marina Shafir “look like Mox.”

Grade: B-

This was another showcase match to build toward the mixed tag hair vs. hair match at Grand Slam: Australia. The post-match promo was fun. Storm and Cassidy are brilliant together, and this writer is looking forward to their match.

Darby Allin Gets Abducted

Footage from earlier today is shown. Darby Allin is skating his way to the AEW Dynamite arena when he’s ambushed by the War Dogs (Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors). Darby is assaulted and thrown into a car trunk as the War Dogs drive away.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Mark Davis

  • The closing stretch saw Page hit Davis with a tombstone on the outside before finishing him off with a Buckshot Lariat for the win.

Winner: Hangman Page

After the match, Page says he’s heading to Australia next week for a potential opportunity at the AEW World Championship. Hangman adds that he hopes to face Kenny Omega at AEW Grand Slam: Australia next Saturday. Page then delivers a warning to AEW World Champion MJF, threatening to stomp his balls and reclaim the top prize in All Elite Wrestling.

Grade: B+

Page was never going to lose, though it appears he knocked himself out with a piledriver from Davis during the closing moments. Davis was the Marty Jannetty of Aussie Open — solid in the ring but not charismatic enough to succeed as a singles competitor. That said, there is no downside to being a tag team specialist and making the most out of your minutes.

We get a video package on Kevin Knight.

Kenny Omega vs. Andrade El Idolo

  • The finish of the match saw Andrade capitalize on a distraction from Swerve Strickland to hit Kenny Omega with a low blow, followed by the DM for the win.

Winner: Andrade El Idolo

After the match, Andrade celebrates with Don Callis outside while Swerve talks trash inside the ring. Omega gets up and confronts Swerve for interfering in his match. Strickland tries to tell Omega he was trying to help, but tempers flare. Security arrives to separate the two men as a singles match between them is teased.

Grade: A-

This was the first singles meeting between these two men in AEW, and it did not disappoint. Omega is without a doubt one of the best of his generation, if not of all time. As for Andrade, AEW seems like a natural fit for him after an underwhelming second run with WWE. His new “Chick Magnet” shtick looks fun as well. The post-match angle strongly implies that a singles match between Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland is coming, possibly as soon as Grand Slam, though this deserves to be showcased at Revolution. This writer is all here for that.

AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander Speaks

Kris Statlander is asked to reveal her stipulation for next week’s world title match with Thekla. Statlander tells fans to tune into Collision this week to find out. She apologizes to Renee for the tease before telling Thekla she better pray the “Cosmic Killer is just a name.”

Babes of Wrath (c) vs. MegaBad – AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title Eliminator Match

  • The finish of the match saw Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford hit a Doomsday Device on Harley Cameron for the win.

Winners: MegaBad

Grade: B+

A fun match with some impressive tag team moves showcased by Ford and Bayne. The pair gave the Babes of Wrath a hard time in the eliminator. Whether MegaBad will emerge as the new AEW World Tag Team Champions at Grand Slam remains to be seen.

TNT Championship Open Challenge Announcement

Tommaso Ciampa’s TNT Title victory from last week’s Collision is shown. The Psycho Killer then appears in a video promo. Ciampa says the TNT Championship open challenge will continue out of respect for the title and former champion Mark Briscoe. Tommaso calls his new title “Silvie” and tells potential challengers he isn’t hard to find. Excalibur then notes that Ciampa will defend his title in a three-way against Roderick Strong and Claudio Castagnoli this Saturday on AEW Collision.

AEW Collision Card

The following matches for AEW Collision were announced during tonight’s AEW Dynamite broadcast:

  • Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Roderick Strong vs. Claudio Castagnoli – TNT Title Three-Way Match
  • Kevin Knight vs. Scorpio Sky
  • The Rascalz, Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. Big Bill, Bryan Keith & Grizzled Young Veterans – Parking Lot Fight
  • Gates of Agony vs. The Young Bucks

Ricochet (c) vs. Jack Perry – AEW National Title Match

  • The finish of the match saw Ricochet shove Jack Perry onto the title sat on the second turnbuckle before hitting him with the Vertigo for the win.

Winner and still AEW National Champion: Ricochet

The camera pans to Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors hijacking the production room. They tell the crew to replay the events from earlier today. We see the War Dogs dragging a body bag with their car. Connors unwraps the bag to reveal Darby Allin inside. He rezips the body bag as Kidd signals him to drive the car again.

Grade: A+

A great match between Ricochet and Jack Perry, but the defining moment was not the match itself — it was the violent confrontation between Gabe Kidd and Darby Allin. Darby has been a one-man army against the War Dogs for weeks, but he may have to get out of the body bag first before he can once again put his hands on Kidd.

MJF (c) vs. Brody King – AEW World Title Eliminator Match

  • The finish of the match saw Brody King hit MJF with a Gonzo Bomb for the win.

Winner: Brody King

After the match, Brody King is attacked by Andrade, who takes him out with a spinning elbow before hitting MJF with the Message. Adam Page then takes out Andrade with a Buckshot Lariat. Page goes for the AEW World Championship, only to set MJF up for a Buckshot Lariat. Max evades with a low blow to Hangman but is taken out with a second Gonzo Bomb by Brody, who then lifts the title to cap off AEW Dynamite.

Grade: B+

MJF’s selling of the chokehold didn’t look convincing, but they had to find a way to make Brody King the next challenger for the world title. You don’t see a world champion get squashed too often, so this was something different and fresh. The ending, where all men vying for a title shot collided, was cool.

Overall Grade: A-

A solid episode with some fun moments and matches. Kenny Omega vs. Andrade was the match of the night, in my opinion. The angle featuring Darby Allin and Gabe Kidd was intense. I’m really interested to see what other creative ways they come up with to keep the feud intriguing. The women’s tag team title eliminator match was fun. As for the main event, the shock factor was a nice touch. That’s it for tonight, and this writer will be back with more AEW Dynamite coverage next week.
