WWE Star Forced To Vacate Title Due to Six-Month Injury

A WWE title change has been confirmed following an injury setback. The turn of events unfolded during the March 31 episode of NXT Roadblock.

While the situation was addressed on-screen, the full impact of the announcement is only now becoming clear.

During a backstage segment, Elio LeFleur revealed that he could spend six months on the sidelines due to injury.

As a result, he has officially vacated the WWE Speed Championship. This title reign seems to have ended sooner than planned. Moreover, LeFleur ‘s momentum came to a screeching halt before it could fully run its course.

Elio LeFleur’s injury forces WWE Speed title vacancy and new tournament

Elio LeFleur’s injury dates back to an eight-man tag team match at an NXT live event in Lakeland, Florida.

The incident reportedly occurred during a turnbuckle spot, prompting immediate medical attention. He was later seen with his arm in a sling, though he has since clarified the issue as a shoulder injury requiring a six-month recovery.

The timing is significant. LeFleur had only won the WWE Speed Championship in February 2026, making his reign brief — a sprint rather than a marathon, fitting the title’s name in more ways than one. Now, WWE will move forward with a tournament to crown a new champion, set to begin next week on NXT.

His absence also impacts the tag team division. LeFleur and Eli Knight were forced out of the ongoing NXT Tag Team Championship tournament, where they had been positioned as contenders. Knight, who previously tied in a No. one contender’s match, has now been encouraged by LeFleur to enter the upcoming Speed Title tournament — a second chance entering through an unexpected door.

The backstage segment also highlighted frustration among several NXT talents, reflecting how quickly plans can shift when injuries strike. For LeFleur, the focus now turns to recovery, while WWE resets the board.

With Stand & Deliver approaching, the Speed division will soon have a new face — even if the circumstances came at full speed.
