AEW Dynamite Results
Chaos erupts in the parking lot as Will Ospreay and his United Empire teammates, including Henare, confront The Death Riders. Reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman bails Henare out from a suplex onto a rental vehicle.
Ospreay, Alex Windsor, Jon Moxley, and Marina Shafir eventually bring the fight to the ring. Windsor takes out Marina Shafir with a dive on the outside. Wheeler Yuta joins Moxley inside the ring to take out Ospreay, but the United Empire regroups inside the ring.
Ospreay grabs the mic and tells Moxley he paid heed to his advice when Mox told him to use his head. The Aerial Assassin reveals he traveled all the way to Japan to gather his United Empire teammates and bring them to the United States. Ospreay says tonight’s main event will see United Empire take on The Death Riders. The crowd reacts loudly to the announcement as the segment caps off.
Update on Kyle Fletcher
Don Callis is backstage with an injury update on Kyle Fletcher. Unfortunately, Fletcher is out of action for the foreseeable future. The Protostar has also vacated the TNT Championship. Callis says the fate of the title will be decided in a Casino Gauntlet match this Sunday at AEW Dynasty, before noting he was in the middle of negotiations for ProtOkada (Fletcher and Okada) vs. The Young Bucks for Dynasty, but the match is now off.
Callis puts himself over as “The Invisible Hand,” saying he already has a pivot in place with Okada and Takeshita, comparing their relationship to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Callis says he likes it when people don’t get along before hyping up the upcoming trios match featuring Don Callis Family members against Bandido, Darby Allin, and Jack Perry.
Darby Allin, Bandido and “Jungle” Jack Perry vs. Andrade El Idolo, Mark Davis, and Konosuke Takeshita
- The finish of the match saw Andrade plant Jack Perry with a DM for the win.
Winners: Andrade El Idolo, Mark Davis, and Konosuke Takeshita
After the match, the heels have the babyfaces surrounded in the ring. Darby Allin enters the ring but gets taken out with a low blow by Andrade. El Idolo exits the ring, leaving our heroes to Mark Davis and Konosuke Takeshita. As Don Callis delivers a cheap shot, The Young Bucks arrive to make the save. Matt and Nick Jackson clear the ring, hitting interfering DFC members with a barrage of superkicks before hitting Davis with the EVP Trigger.
The Bucks set up Takeshita for the Meltzer Driver, but Okada shows up in the nick of time. It appears The Rainmaker is trying to help Takeshita, but they soon enter into a forearm exchange. The rest of the DFC members show up to separate the two. The Rascalz surface to hit a suicide dive alongside Bandido. Okada mocks a fallen Takeshita but gets taken out by Myron Reed. The segment ends with The Rascalz standing tall with The Young Bucks inside the ring.
Grade: A-
This match kept the momentum going set by the brawl earlier in the show. That said, the post-match shenanigans were too much for this writer to keep up with. I get that The Rascalz are involved in a rivalry with the Don Callis Family, but having too many wrestlers involved in back-to-back spots without any pauses is starting to affect my attention span.
Doc Sampson on Kenny Omega
Lexy Nair asks Doc Samson about Kenny Omega’s health after MJF brought up his intestinal issues last week on AEW Dynamite. Samson says Friedman is just trying to get into Kenny’s head. He acknowledges Omega’s history with diverticulitis but notes that The Cleaner is in the best shape of his life.
Samson adds that he doesn’t like MJF resorting to such cheap remarks, but confirms that Omega has been cleared to compete by his surgeon as well as by Samson himself.
Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Queen Aminata – AEW TBS Championship Match
- The finish of the match saw Willow Nightingale plant Queen Aminata with a gut wrench powerbomb for the win.
Winner and still AEW TBS Champion: Willow Nightingale
Grade: B+
Aminata showed out in her return match after nearly 160 days. As for Willow, the win marked her seventh successful defense of the TBS Championship. AEW appears to be building toward another encounter between Willow and Hikaru Shida following their staredown tonight.
We hear from Chris Jericho
“Judas” plays in the background as Jericho makes his way to the ring. The former AEW World Champion soaks in the Edmonton crowd singing along to his theme song. Tonight’s crowd seems especially appreciative to see Y2J in the ring.
Jericho is holding a piece of paper. He thanks Edmonton and says it’s good to be back on Dynamite. Jericho reveals he’ll sign his new contract tonight. He recounts his first match in Ponoka, Alberta. Jericho says he’s taken a lot of risks in his career, including going all in with AEW when the company launched in 2019.
Y2J says he’s excited to give back to the company he helped start. He adds that this business deserves the best version of him, which is why he’s gotten into the best shape of his life. Jericho says he loves pro wrestling and he loves this company. The crowd responds with loud “Jericho” chants.
Le Champion says it’s the perfect time to sign the contract, but he’s interrupted by The Demand’s music.
Ricochet mocks Canada
Ricochet says that as a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Canada sucks, but he isn’t here to talk about Canada — he’s here to talk about Chris Jericho. He tells Jericho to relax because if The Demand wanted him out, Bishop Kaun would have already pulled the trigger. He tells Jericho not to bother signing the contract, drawing boos from the crowd.
Ricochet gives Jericho his flowers for putting AEW on the map but says that while Jericho has been gone, he has established himself as the man around here. He brings up his history as the inaugural AEW National Champion. He claims nobody in AEW wants Jericho back, telling him to pack his bags and leave for his cruise.
Chris Jericho brings back iconic catchphrase on AEW Dynamite
Ricochet takes off his cap, prompting Jericho to respond, “Wow, you really are bald.” Jericho says he doesn’t give a sh*t about what Ricochet has to say. Y2J adds that there’s a clause in his contract that allows him to pick his opponent at AEW Dynasty.
Jericho acknowledges his nephew sitting ringside before reviving his “You just made the list” catchphrase. He tells Ricochet he’ll see him at Dynasty, as the crowd pops big-time for the announcement.
Huge match for AEW Dynasty
Lexy Nair is backstage with The Don Callis Family. Callis talks about their trios win earlier tonight. He references Kyle Fletcher’s injury before announcing a huge tag team match at AEW Dynasty: The Young Bucks vs. Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita. Both men appear surprised by the announcement.
Takeshita says he wants a shot at Okada’s International Title. Callis quickly comes up with a solution — if Okada and Takeshita defeat The Young Bucks this Sunday, then they can face each other at Double or Nothing. He once again compares the pair to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
Okada and Takeshita shake hands, but Okada pulls him in closer and calls him “Scottie Pippen,” while referring to himself as “Michael Jordan.” The remark nearly sparks another brawl, but the two are separated as Callis yells that they are doing this for Fletcher.
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mascara Dorada – AEW Dynasty Casino Gauntlet No.1 Spot Qualifier
- The finish of the match saw Tommaso Ciampa hit Mascara Dorada with a running knee strike for the win.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampa
Grade: B+
Tommaso Ciampa is back in the TNT Championship picture after dropping the title to Kyle Fletcher earlier this year. This writer expects to see Ciampa reclaim the title and re-establish himself as a fighting champion.
The Dogs take out OC and Roderick Strong
David Finlay speaks to the camera as Clark Connors attacks Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong from behind. Gabe Kidd takes over the promo and says there is no one left in The Conglomeration.
Finlay then challenges Mistico and JetSpeed to a Trios Tag Team Title match this Saturday on AEW Collision.
Thekla speaks
Lexy Nair is backstage with Thekla. Nair asks the AEW Women’s World Champion about Jamie Hayter. Thekla says that if she hears one more thing about Hayter, she’ll treat Nair to a nice seafood dinner, take her out to a strip club, and break her fingers on the stage.
Thekla says Hayter won’t reclaim the title as long as she’s in AEW, before promising to retain the championship at AEW Dynasty.
We hear from Cope and Christian
Cope says jealousy and pettiness started this feud. He blames Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood for thinking they were living in Cope’s shadow. Adam says C&C will take their rightful place at the top of the AEW Tag Team Division when they beat FTR for the World Tag Team Championship at Dynasty.
Christian Cage says FTR managed to piss off not only C&C but the entire country of Canada. He drops his classic “Patriarch of AEW” line. Cage says he paid Harwood and Cash’s moms a visit — and by visit, he means he had sex with them. Cope tries to contain his laughter. Cage adds that he’ll pay a visit to Stokely Hathaway’s mom as one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
FTR’s music hits, but Harwood and Wheeler attack C&C from behind. Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero take care of Cope outside, with Beretta hitting Cope with a running knee strike onto a chair. Cage tries to plant Wheeler with a Killswitch, but he is shoved into Stokely, who steals his watch. Harwood then stomps Cage’s arm while it is caught in a chair.
The segment ends with Excalibur questioning C&C’s chances heading into AEW Dynasty.
Darby Allin wants to become AEW World Champion
Darby Allin talks about his match against Andrade this Sunday at AEW Dynasty. Allin reveals why he wants to win the AEW World Championship. He says it is the most important accomplishment for anyone who wants to be the face of this company. Allin calls out his critics for telling him that he doesn’t have what it takes to be a world champion, vowing to become the top title holder in All Elite Wrestling.
United Empire vs. Death Riders
- The finish of the match saw Will Ospreay hit Jon Moxley with a Hidden Blade through a table for the win.
Winners: United Empire
After the match, Ospreay sets up Moxley for the Tiger Driver, but Castagnoli enters the ring in time for the save. The United Empire members celebrate their win inside the ring as the Death Riders look on from outside.
Grade: A-
A fantastic main event match between the Death Riders and United Empire. The match featured some fun spots, including Francesco Akira missing two attempts to break a table with Daniel Garcia on top of it. That being said, Callum Newman needs a new presentation because he’s the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, yet here he played second fiddle to Ospreay.
We hear from Kenny Omega
Tony Schiavone welcomes Kenny Omega to the ring. The Cleaner recounts that his wrestling journey started at the age of 25. He then brings up MJF’s comments from last week’s AEW Dynamite.
Omega wonders what caused him to lose his cool. Was it MJF mentioning Ibushi? No. Was it the battle with diverticulitis? No, because commentary mentions it almost every week. Omega says MJF should have been the one who was angry, because he cannot claim to have a body of work like Kenny’s in Japan. But instead, it was Omega who lost his cool.
Kenny says AEW fans deserve a champion who is the greatest in the ring, and that’s not MJF. Omega vows to reclaim the title from MJF and start to right the wrongs Friedman has done. Kenny says it will be Friedman’s last defense at AEW Dynasty before the AEW World Champion finally shows up.
MJF responds to Kenny Omega
Friedman says Omega really thinks he’s better than MJF in 2026. He says Omega almost convinced him with his promo and compliments The Cleaner for improving on the mic.
MJF brings up Omega’s health again and says it’s Kenny’s last shot at the title. Friedman asks what Omega’s excuse will be after he beats him at Dynasty, when he still loses to MJF despite being in the best version of himself. MJF says Omega will suffer the same fate as everyone who has stepped up to the AEW World Champion.
The God will fall on April 12 in Vancouver, Canada, and the Devil will rise, MJF says, before delivering his “Better than you” catchphrase.
Omega wonders if MJF will honor the tradition of shaking his opponent’s hand before what could go down as a legendary main event. Friedman teases a handshake but instead attempts a cheap shot. Omega ducks and hits a V-Trigger. He then takes off MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring and raises it to the crowd in farewell.
The show ends with Omega walking up the ramp as MJF struggles to get up inside the ring.
Overall Grade: A-
A solid go-home episode of AEW Dynamite for Dynasty. The brawl between United Empire and Death Riders was a good start to the show, followed by a great trios opener. I really enjoyed the ending to the Chris Jericho and Ricochet promo-off as well. It will be interesting to see how the match goes down this Sunday.
Willow vs. Queen Aminata was a hard-hitting affair. While I’m gutted to hear that Fletcher will be out due to injury recovery, the Okada–Takeshita vs. The Young Bucks announcement has me pumped. The main event was chaotic, to say the least.
The promo exchange between Omega and Friedman was okay. I’m super excited for the match, though.
That’s it for tonight, and this writer will be back with another AEW Dynamite coverage next week.
