MJF Reacts to Mick Foley Potentially Joining AEW

MJF shares his thoughts on WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley potentially joining AEW.

Recent reports indicated that AEW has “real interest” in signing Mick Foley once his WWE legend’s contract expires next month. The timing of the promotion’s interest is interesting, as the upcoming Double or Nothing PPV will take place at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Flushing, Queens, New York, which is near Foley’s hometown of Long Island.

Darby Allin will defend the AEW World Championship against MJF in a Title vs. Hair match at the event. Ahead of the PPV, MJF spoke to Jon Alba on The Takedown on SI and shared his thoughts on Mick Foley joining the promotion. He was not very fond of the possibility, as he believes Allin took heavy inspiration from the Hardcore Legend to become what he is today.

“I think Mick Foley is fat, and he’s ugly. And I think he was the blueprint for what Darby Allin is now, which makes me hate him even more,” MJF said. “That’s what I think of Mick Foley.”

Mick Foley severed his ties with WWE in December 2025 due to the promotion’s relationship with US President Donald Trump.

MJF has a surprising two-sided take on CM Punk

During his recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, MJF shared his thoughts about CM Punk’s success in WWE following his exit from AEW. Staying in character, he had an interesting take, blasting Punk for being a “bad guy” while still praising him as “an incredible professional wrestler.”

MJF answered bluntly: “No, I’m not surprised at how good he’s doing. Doesn’t change the fact that he’s a f**king c**t.”

When asked why he feels that way, MJF said. “He just sucks. He’s a bad guy, but he’s an incredible professional wrestler. Not going to take that away.” He later added, “He’s a piece of shit, but he’s a great wrestler.”
