Released WWE Star Teases Wrestling Return After Recent ROH Sighting

A former WWE NXT name may be inching closer to stepping back inside the ring after surfacing backstage at recent Ring of Honor tapings.

While no official comeback match has been announced, the latest tease from Bobby Steveson has wrestling fans wondering whether the former Damon Kemp is finally ready to shoot his shot again.

According to Fightful Select, Steveson was backstage during the May 18 ROH television tapings at WTJC Studios in Jacksonville, Florida.

Although he didn’t compete on the show, his appearance immediately sparked speculation about possible future involvement with Tony Khan’s promotion.

Steveson later added fuel to the fire himself when he posted on social media (X), “Felt good to be back around the squared circle.. soon?…” The tease was enough to get fans talking, especially given how little he has wrestled since leaving WWE in 2024.

Before his release, Steveson competed in WWE NXT under the Damon Kemp name after signing with the company in 2021. He worked through brands like 205 Live and NXT UK before eventually becoming part of the No Quarter Catch Crew faction.

Much like a wrestler caught in a long submission hold, however, his momentum stalled after WWE chose not to renew his contract in July 2024.

Since then, Steveson has wrestled only a handful of matches on the independent scene. Reports also noted that he may have been helping backstage at the ROH tapings or working in a tryout-type role, though nothing official has been confirmed.

The Jacksonville visit also included Carlito, who was reportedly backstage visiting family members Primo and Epico Colon during the tapings.

Steveson, the older brother of Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, has previously said he holds no resentment over his WWE exit and remains open to opportunities with AEW, ROH, and TNA Wrestling.
