Cody Rhodes Reacts to Being Called WWE’s ‘Human Piñata’

Cody Rhodes opens up about what it feels like to be WWE‘s “human piñata.”

Reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appeared on ESPN’s UnSportsmanLike podcast ahead of the Clash in Italy PLE. During the conversation, the hosts asked him why he’s become the human piñata of the promotion, pointing out that he’s constantly been attacked and targeted by the rest of the roster.

Cody Rhodes responded, saying he’s been easy to find and hard to beat in WWE. He took pride in still being champion after almost everyone who celebrated his title win at WrestleMania 40 turned on him.

“Well, here’s the thing. Yes and no. Because still here, WWE Champion, very happy. WrestleMania, prime example, I took Randy’s best shot, but that was after the bell, and I have been saying very easy to find, hard to actually beat,” Cody Rhodes said. “I do think we’re at a point where we got to get our hands up a little bit.

“If you look at WrestleMania 40 and the photo of everyone with me on their shoulders in the ring, and I’m so excited, and I just won the WWE Title, all of those people have turned on me, I think, with the exception of one or two. And I got family in the ring. So it’s very unique that everyone’s turned and taken their shot at me, but no one has been fully successful yet,” Cody Rhodes continued.

Cody Rhodes explained the reality of wrestling

Speaking further, Cody Rhodes explained that the reality of wrestling is that everyone wants people to be successful, but not too successful. He used his confrontation and match with Sami Zayn on last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown as an example. He pointed out that even a moral babyface character like Zayn is starting to show signs of bitterness and jealousy because he is holding the spot everyone else wants.

“I guess it’s a lonely thing, I don’t know. I don’t want to sound like a jerk here, but everybody in wrestling wants you to be successful, but not that successful. As Sami Zayn found out this past week, very passive-aggressive, very bitter, you know, Sami, but hey, chalk it up. That may be a little jealous, you know?” Cody Rhodes said.
