Matt Hardy believes it’s finally time to end his long feud with The Righteous. On the July 16 episode of TNA iMPACT!, Matt and Jeff Hardy challenged Vincent and Dutch to a “Righteous Deletion” match at the famous Hardy Compound.
The cinematic match will air on next week’s episode of TNA iMPACT! and is expected to be the final chapter in a rivalry that has lasted for eight months.
The challenge was delivered in true Broken Universe style.
Another cinematic fight at the Hardy Compound
Vincent and Dutch received a magical hologram message from The Hardys inviting them to the Hardy Compound. The Righteous accepted the challenge with their usual creepy smiles.
After the episode, Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on social media.
“It’s time to end this 8 month blood rivalry.. AT THE HARDY COMPOUND! #RighteousDELETION #TNAiMPACT,” he tweeted.
The match continues Hardy’s famous “Deletion” series, which became hugely popular nearly ten years ago and helped make the Broken Universe a fan favorite. The upcoming Righteous Deletion match is expected to follow the same cinematic style that made Final Deletion so memorable.
Instead of a normal wrestling ring, the action will take place around the Hardy Compound, featuring the strange storytelling, supernatural moments, and chaos that fans expect from Matt Hardy’s Broken character.
The feud between The Hardys and The Righteous has become much more than a fight over the TNA World Tag Team Championships.
When Vincent and Dutch arrived in TNA earlier this year, they became obsessed with Matt and Jeff Hardy. They claimed they wanted to help the legendary brothers reach a higher level of immortality.
Things soon turned personal.
The Righteous broke into the Hardys’ locker room, filled it with pictures of their families, and brutally attacked Jeff. During the assault, they even drove a lock through Jeff’s gauged ear.
The Hardys defeated The Righteous at Genesis to keep their tag team titles. The two teams later faced each other in a violent Tables Match, and not long after, The Hardys lost the TNA World Tag Team Championships to The System.
The Righteous eventually got what they wanted by pushing Matt Hardy back into his famous Broken character. Soon after, Jeff also brought back his dark alter ego, Willow.
The feud became even stranger during June’s Wicked Garden match. The Righteous lured The Hardys into their own bizarre world and defeated them after poisoning Jeff with a mysterious substance called Orange Sunshine.
All four men later competed alongside The System in a Tag Team Ladder Match at Slammiversary. Neither side was able to settle the score.
Now, after months of fights, mind games, and cinematic moments, Matt Hardy believes there is only one place where this rivalry can truly end.
