WWE’s CM Punk Reveals Disturbing Comment That Made Him Quit Twitter

CM Punk has never been shy about speaking his mind. This time, the Undisputed WWE Champion opened up about why he chose to step away from Twitter altogether.

Rather than criticism of his wrestling career, Punk revealed that one particular post made him rethink whether the platform was worth his time.

Speaking with ESPN New York ahead of WWE’s event at Madison Square Garden, Punk explained that his decision came after a moment that changed his perspective on social media.

CM Punk says Twitter became a “cesspool of negativity”

Punk said he no longer believes Twitter is driven by genuine conversations, arguing that much of the platform is fueled by fake accounts and repetitive online discourse.

“I don’t think a lot of them are real people anymore. I honestly think it’s bot farms, and they just attach onto whatever the hell an algorithm is. They repeat and regurgitate what other people are saying.”

He added that the constant negativity eventually became impossible to ignore.

“It winds up just being this cesspool of negativity. It’s pretty wild, and it’s pretty unhealthy.”

The breaking point came after Punk suffered a shattered foot. While recovering from the injury, he came across a post from someone celebrating what had happened to him.

“The thing that got me to abandon Twitter was when I shattered my foot. I saw somebody say they were happy about it.”

Rather than engaging with the comment, Punk realized he had complete control over whether he exposed himself to that kind of negativity.

“It didn’t hurt my feelings. I just went, ‘Oh, this is not a comment that I would have seen if I didn’t look at Twitter, so I’m just going to stop looking at this.'”

Punk also addressed fans who wait outside hotels to meet WWE talent, urging them not to cross that line.

“Yeah, don’t do that. Please don’t do that. I’ll be at Fanatics Fest on Sunday.”

Although Punk has logged out of Twitter, he hasn’t gone completely off the grid. He still uses Instagram for lighter content, proving that sometimes the best way to win a social media battle royal is to tag yourself out before the negativity gets the three-count.
