WWE Elimination Chamber Opener:
The usual kick-ass video package and pyro open up the 2011 WWE “Elimination Chamber” pay-per view event, which emanates live from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Michael Cole on commentary welcomes us to the pay-per view. Joining him for commentary tonight is Josh Mathews and former WWE and TNA Superstar Booker T.
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio [NON-TITLE]
This will be our first match of the evening. Ricardo Rodriguez handles the introduction for Alberto Del Rio. He did the intro in Spanish, but he definitely mentioned something about the NFL’s Oakland Raiders being losers. Del Rio cuts a pre-match promo about being committed to excellence, unlike “low-class people from Oakland.” Cheap heat alert! As he continues to talk trash he is interupted by Kofi Kingston’s entrance music. Kingston comes out with his Intercontinental Championship and our non-title PPV opener is officially getting underway! Del Rio quickly takes the offense in the match. Kofi leaps onto the ropes for a highflying forearm off the top rope onto Del Rio. Kofi hits a Boom Drop much to the crowd’s approval and cheers. Kofi sets up for a finisher, Del Rio retaliates with a kick to Kofi. Kofi again jumps off the top rope, as Del Rio blocks by lifting his knees up, taking half a cross body and blocking. Kofi gets a nice missle drop kick on Del Rio for a good near fall. Del Rio makes a come back by putting Kofi over his shoulder then tossing him in the air before dropping him to his knees for another near fall. Kofi gains momentum and hits a DDT and goes for the cover. No dice, as Ricardo distracts the ref long enough for Del Rio to cover and make his way back to his feet. Del Rio gets Kofi with a cross arm breaker. Kofi taps out, giving Del Rio the win.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
