Nick’s Pay-Per-Review: WWE Bragging Rights 2009

Team Raw vs Team Smackdown 14 Man Tag Team Match: This of course was the bout to determine who would be the better of the two brands, and like I said before, I would have preferred this to be the sole bout that made that decision. The only thing I really liked about this match was the in-ring wrestling and the Big Show turn at the end. Big Show had to turn if he is to be taken serious. DX has done nothing but humiliate him the past few weeks on Raw leading into this match, so there was never any reason for Big Show to care about Team Raw since Team Raw didn’t care about him. So I’m glad WWE went that route with the finish. The major problem with this match, however, was more the concept of the PPV in general: I just didn’t care whether Smackdown or Raw won. Also, I am disappointed confused by the fact that WWE continues to publicly remind the audience that Raw is the company’s flag ship show. It makes Smackdown look weak and unimportant. Internally, WWE can choose to hold any show it wants as the “A” show, but it should never publicly announce that as it doesn’t help the other brands. 6 Stars.
