EXCLUSIVE: Major Details Behind Jim Cornette’s TNA Release

According to a source I spoke with earlier today who is close to the situation, Jim Cornette’s TNA release was not as amicable as has been reported.

WrestleZone was the first to exclusively report that Ed Ferrara will begin working with TNA on their creative team beginning tonight, and while that did play a part in Cornette’s TNA release, as him and Ferrara do not get along well, there were other factors involved in TNA’s decision to release Cornette.

At this point, Vince Russo is the head of TNA’s creative team, and Ed Ferrara is coming in to work with him. The UK Sun recently ran an article claiming that a "senior member of TNA management" informed them that Cornette’s split with TNA was amicable, and that he is simply taking a break from the company to recharge his battery, but the two sides enjoy working with each other. However, according to the source I spoke with today, this could not be further from the truth.

In reality, The Sun backed off on reporting the truth behind Cornette’s release because TNA does not want to run the risk of Jim Cornette berating the company over the course of the next few months and burying TNA in interviews. Cornette has a history of speaking very openly and honestly about the wrestling business, and is not afraid to bash people or companies publicly.

Jim Cornette had a number of blow ups backstage during his run with TNA, and it’s being said that his most recent outburst at a taping concerning Eric Young was the straw that broke the camel’s back and TNA decided to fire him. The company is using the excuse that he’s taking time off to "recharge his battery," but again, this is not true as TNA did indeed fire Cornette because they were growing tired of working with him. If you think about it the "recharging" stance doesn’t seem to make much sense as TNA only tapes about 5 days a month.

It’s been reported by other websites that Jim Cornette is not publicly commenting on his release from TNA at this point, and now we know the reason why; because the split was NOT amicable and Cornette is keeping quiet so as to not bash the company within the internet wrestling community, which makes up a large part of TNA’s fanbase.
