More Detailed RAW Off-Air Notes, HHH Birthday Celebration

WWE RAWKen sent along the following:

This is Ken a.k.a. The Champ and I was in attendance for Raw tonight at the Verizon Center.  Tonight once again showed that D.C. fans are some of the best wrestling fans around!  There were like a couple empty seats here and there basically making it pretty much full capacity.  The crowd was so hyped for the night and hardly sat on their hands (as you saw tonight on the live broadcast and as you will see on Superstars).  Ok here are some detailed notes:

-The opening dark match saw some local jobber named Alex Riley face Jamie Noble.  Riley came out with a letterman jacket you see collegiate athletes wear.  Riley came out and trashed the area and brought up his mom.  He got major heel heat.  Then he said the 2 best things that came out of Virginia (where he said he was from) was him and his mother.  Noble was over with the crowd.  The match was pretty good and the end saw Noble use a rollup to pin Riley.

-They taped two Superstars matches before Raw and after Todd Grisham and Jim Ross came then the pyro went off the first match was John Morrison versus Tyson Kidd with the rest of the Hart Dynasty at ringside.  Good back and forth match up between those two guys with Tyson controlling most of the match on the mat.  Towards the end it looked like Morrison was going to fly off the top rope to the floor but David Hart Smith and Natalya got in the way.  Then the ref sent both of them back and the match continued.  The end saw Morrison catch Kidd with a Shining Wizard-type kick then a split-legged corkscrew moonsault to get the pin.

-The second match was up next and the crowd got a bit of a surprise when the WWE Champion Randy Orton’s music blared through the arena.  He was booed unmercilessly by the crowd.  His opponent was Primo who got a nice reaction from the crowd.  Orton controlled the large majority of the match even though Primo did get in some pretty good offense.  The finish saw Orton nail Primo with the RKO and get the pin fall.

-Before Cena faced The Miz, during the commercial break The Miz’s entrance theme played.  Miz then got on the mic and asked the crowd if they were tired of his theme playing.  The crowd responded with a "Yes" (with some no’s mixed in there including from me and my friend) to which he said "Really?"  They repeated their answer then he said it was too bad because it’s going to play anyway and it was queued back up.

-After Raw went off the air, Lillian got in the ring and told the remaining folks in the stands that it was time for the main event.  The dark main event was a tag match between John Cena and Triple H v. Randy Orton and Big Show.  When the bell rang Orton danced around the ring a little with Cena before rolling out the ring, going to the time keeper and grabbing his belt and walking out leaving Big Show alone!  Big Show looked like he was going to double chokeslam both Cena and Trips but they reversed it into a double suplex.  Then Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment and Trips did the DX chop then the Pedigree to get the pin.  After that, Trips grabbed the mic and told the crowd it was his birthday and he expected a setup of some sort…he was right because some members of the roster came through the crowd (right past our section on the floor) and pelted Trips with cake.  Trips hauled it to the back to avoid more cake.  Vince McMahon then came out and asked that Trips come back out to the ring so they could sing "Happy Birthday" to him.  After almost a minute of asking for Trips to come out his music hit and he peeked his head out the entrance way covered in cake.  He made his way down and was almost hit with cake by Arn Anderson!  He grabbed the cake then hit a camera man with it.  The WWE Roster and the remaining fans all sang "Happy Birthday."  Trips then grabbed the mic and said he wanted Mark Henry to leave the ringside area because he was afraid he was gonna eat him since he knew he was going to be pelted some more with cake.  Trips then thanked everyone for the bday celebration then he was promptly pelted with cake starting with Mickie James and a big cake!  Trips even grabbed his father-in-law so he would be hit with cake too.  After the pelting only Vince, Trips, and the Big Show are left in the ring then…Batista’s music hits and he walks down with a cake in his hand!  He walks into the ring and tries to hit Trips but gets Vince instead!  After some more cake throwing, Trips did his pose in the ring then went around the ringside area shaking hands.  Lillian then thanked us for coming and wished us a good night!  I can’t wait for November when Survivor Series comes to D.C.
