Episode 166

April 13, 2009

Just finished watching and reviewing several episode of NWA Anarchy, so look for several reports spread over the next few days. Also, I have to comment on the ROH show in Manassas. The preshow was nice with the Set showcasing their talent. Match of the night goes to the Young Bucks vs. Steenirco (Kevin Steen & El Generico) in an excellent match. Go to http://airplanespin.com/board/index.php?showtopic=5641 for commentary regarding what was considered a very good show right on down to Rhett Titus pulling off some hilarious shenanigans during Kenny King’s match with American Dragon.

WRESTLING: (n.) ’res-ling A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.

ANARCHY: (n.) an-ar-key (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.

What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

– Welcome to NWA Anarchy. But sorry, there is no Greg Hunter to add the emphasis into PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Our beloved Georgia Wrestling History reporter Larry Goodman, who purchased his threads at Goodwill™, is substituting for the Master of Ceremonial Disasters. Last week, Azreal successfully defended the Young Lion’s Title against Hayden Young. Afterwards, the behemoth Iceberg delivered not one, but two Ground Xero splashes to the prone Young. In the main event, Pomp & Circumstance (Ace Rockwell & Shaun Tempers) reunited, but the NWA Elite of Kimo & Phil Shatter welcomed them back with a not so nice reception. This week, have the funeral of Mikael Judas, Shadow Jackson taking on Jeremy Vain, and the New Wave defends the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles against Talent & Money in a no-DQ contest.

1. “The Veteran” Adrian Hawkins pinned “Dew or Die” Chip Day.

Chikara will be hosting its annual rendition of the Young Lion’s Cup in August and hopefully several members of the NWA Anarchy roster such as Chip Day will participate. Day is sporting a shoulder brace after having minor shoulder surgery. Being the veteran that Hawkins is, he immediately homes in on Day’s shoulder before tripping him up on the ring apron. After commercial, Hawkins uses dastardly heel tactics to maintain the advantage. Hawkins defuses Day’s comeback by hitting the Liger bomb for the victory.

– Next up, we head backstage where the Great American Scream Machine meets up with a laid back Seth Delay “Mignon.” The sleaziest wrestler in NWA Anarchy admits Delay is a younger version of him and pitches an awesome Ponzi scheme. When Brodie Ray speaks of money, Delay listens and agrees to do anything for money.

– “The Dragon” Dan Wilson calls forth the congregation to hold the funeral of Mikael Judas. One by on the most despicable men in Georgia except the GAEC enters the ring: Jeff G. Bailey, NWA National Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter, Azreal, Iceberg, Skirra Korvis, Jeremy Vain, Mr. Rob Adonis, and Brody Ray Chase. Meanwhile, Talent & Money and the Technicians, accompanied by the Entourage, have the dubious honor of carrying the casket to ringside. Wilson prepares to deliver the eulogy with lamentations for Judas. Judas is no longer a thorn in the side of evildoers within NWA Anarchy. Wilson calls forth Judas’s trainer, the Great American Scream Machine. Brody Ray accuses Judas for constantly embarrassing him. Then, Wilson calls forth “the Untouchable” Jeremy Vain. Vain has little to say about the Priest of Punishment. The last thing Vain remembers was Judas dropping him on the back of his noggin. Johnson whines while Vain wishes Judas to burn in hell. Finally, Wilson calls the passionate Jeff G. Bailey. One female says, “Oh, my God!” Bailey admits he took the buffoon under his wing and transformed him into a champion. Unfortunately, he no longer felt the need for guidance of the NWA Elite. Bailey doesn’t make promises, he makes guarantees. “I’m Jeff G. Bailey, the Architect of Doom, and I guaranteed you Mikael Judas that if you got in the ring with Kimo, you would meet Your Maker™.” The 7 Fingers of Death did the trick so that Bailey made one more guarantee: the burial of Judas. Bailey heads over to ringside and dances on Judas’s grave. Wilson was hoping Bailey would urinate and defecate upon his grave, but this is a family show after all. After commercial, Wilson moves the crowd by calling for the image of Mikael Judas and burning it. Wilson burns Judas’s effigy and deposits it in his casket. (At this point, I was looking for the lights to go out and Judas to pop out of the casket.) Wilson orders a 10 bell salute while the heels “pay their final respects.” Then, Wilson orders the Paul Bearers to carry Judas to his final resting place. And there my friends, is the story behind the funeral of Mikael Judas.

– Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis have a message for Shadow Jackson, the One Man Insurance Policy will take his place. What a coward.

2. NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Shadow Jackson defeated “the One Man Insurance Policy” Mr. Rob Adonis via disqualification in a non-title match.

Shadow quickly reverses Vain’s shenanigans and manhandles Mr. Adonis. Mr. Adonis heads to the floor. He shoves Vain for scorning him and then kisses and makes up with the “Touchable” Jeremy Vain. Shadow brings Mr. Adonis back in the hard way and eats a belly to belly suplex. Vain distracts Shadow just long enough to allow Mr. Adonis to hit the dreaded enziguri! Mr. Adonis employs Japanese psychology by hitting the 10-31 spinebuster. Mr. Adonis makes the cover, but Shadow kicks out. After commercial, Mr. Adonis works over Shadow’s Achilles’ heel. Mr. Adonis continues to administer punishment by applying the Terry Funk Spinning Toehold of Doom. Shadow buys himself time with a powerslam. The crowd rallies behind Jackson as the referee exercises his count. Jackson hits the 10-31, but Vain prevents the pinfall attempt. Vain cowers in the corner and Jackson lifts him up. Mr. Adonis makes the champ pay with a chair shot to the back and a VDT. Mr. Adonis transforms into Baron von Rahske and applies the CLAW~! NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer heads out to prevent further injury. During the commercial break, Palmer calls for security to escort Shadow back to the locker room. Solid match, but too slow at moments.

3. Talent & Money ( JT “I Got” Talent” & Andrew Pendleton III) defeated the New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) in a no-DQ match to capture the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles.

No love lost here. The referee attempts to maintain order in an no-DQ match. I’ve never quite figured that one out. If it’s a no DQ match, your only job is to basically count the fall. Driver finally tires of the referee trying to enforce the rules in a NO DQ match and takes it upon himself to single-handedly manhandle T & M. All four men brawl over to the announcer’s booth where the New Wave introduces T & M to a pair of thunderous chair shots. Back in the ring, Walters applies the pendulum and Driver crashes down with a guillotine legdrop on Talent. The New Wave ties T & M to the Tree of Woe and promptly stands on their moneymakers. No repopulation for T & M tonight. The New Wave heads to ringside where they commandeer their tag belts and promptly T & M back with dualing belt shots. Walters focuses his attack on Talent’s laceration. They toss Pendleton to the floor and hit the Unskinny Bop. Walters wipes out Pendleton with a piscado. When it appears everything is kosher, the Hands of Steel makes an appearance and cold thingys Driver with a pair of brass knux. Delay places Talent on Driver for the pinfall victory. It’s about time T & M got the tag belts. Afterwards, Talent & Money, Brody Ray, and Delay celebrate in mid-ring. Pendleton heads to ringside to pick up an envelope and shows Brody Ray what a real stimulus package looks like by handing him the money. What a payoff.

CLOSING THOUGHTS: Haven’t seen an episode with such a dominating performance by the rudo factions since NWA Anarchy started international TV tapings. The technicos lost or were brutalized in every segment including Mr. Adonis roughing up Shadow. Things are rolling along for Hardcore Hell as it is usually hard to find anything wrong with booking in NWA Anarchy.

Episode 167

April 20, 2009

WRESTLING: (n.) ’res-ling A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.

ANARCHY: (n.) an-ar-key (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.

What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

– Welcome to NWA Anarchy, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week, Greg Hunter missed one of the greatest weeks in NWA Anarchy history. A funeral was held for the dearly departed Mikael Judas, but Hunter saw the video and has deep suspicions that the Priest of Punishment still walks among us. Talent & Money captured the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles by defeating the New Wave, but the Hands of Steal (get it, steal, yes I know it is a bad joke) added an assist that would put John Stockton to shame. This week, Chris King plays Russian Roulette with Young Lion’s Champion Azreal and Truitt Fields defends the NWA Anarchy TV Title against Kimo.

1. “That Bald Head Jerk” Todd Sexton & the Technicians (Bobby Moore & Tyler Smith) vs. Slim J & Bo “Knows Wrestling” Newsome & TK Kross.

This is a teacher & students vs. teacher & students match. Johnson admits to hating Sexton, but not before divulging his negative opinions of Slim J’s teachings. Everything devolves for the Technicians when they retreat to the floor. Kross dropkicks Sexton into the Technicians. Newsome has a similar idea and wipes out the Technicians sans Sexton. Sexton reenters the ring to lure Slim into a trap and sends him flying to the floor. Team Technician wastes no time assaulting Kross. After commercial, Sexton emulates Kurt Angle, but Newsome hits a missile dropkick to break up the ankle lock. Slim receives the hot tag and he cleans house on the Technicians. Slim escapes the Sexecution and hits a sleeper, but Moore makes the save. Newsome aids in an assisted Sliced Bread #2 or something like that. Anyways, this ends up with Kross rolling up Moore for the victory with everyone else battling on the outside. Afterwards, Sexton commandeers the mike and threatens his trainees.

– To the back, Johnson reminds Truitt Fields about who knocked him out last week. Shaun Tempers hops in and says it was the Rejects. Tempers says they need to put a stop to it and he knows how to do it. Tempers shakes hands with half the locker room including NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer. Tempers tells Palmer that it was the Rejects who knocked out Fields. Tempers wants Jerry to put up any match with the Rejects. Palmer says you name the match and he’ll book it. After that Tempers asks for one more title shot after getting done with the Rejects. Palmer says he can make it happen. Now ask yourself, didn’t Tempers seem a little too happy?

– Let’s head back to the ring where for the premiere episode of the Talent & Money Show™. Talent & Money are champions to be proud. T & M invite their special guests because two is better than one: “the Great American Scream Machine” Brody Ray Chase & “the Hands of Steal” Seth Delay. This is awesome, two of the coolest and two of sleaziest heels in NWA Anarchy in the same ring at the same time. Wait a minute; I’m beginning to sound like a 2Pac & Snoop Dogg track. Talent thanks Brody Ray and Delay for celebrating the momentous occasion with cakes. Talent asks Brody Ray what is it like to hang with the champs, but Pomp & Circumstance decide to pay a visit while the New Wave sneak in from behind. P & C try to inform the rudo contingent who is hiding behind them, but Pendleton continues to blather and blather and blather and blather. Well, you get the point. Pendleton tells P & C that they have to go through Brody Ray & Delay to get to the champs. One problem, the New Wave is still standing behind them, the same New Wave that has been waiting for about three minutes now for the heels to turn around. The celebration comes to an abrupt halt when the New Wave helps the champs have their cake and eat it, too. To celebrate the cancellation of the T & M show, it’ll be the past and present vs. past and present in an 8-man tag in the near future. Great segment with copious doses of good humor.

2. “The Son of Satan” Azreal w/Skirra Korvis & “the Dragon” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness destroyed Chris King to retain the Young Lion’s Title.

What happens when you clock Azreal from behind? He stiffs you ten thousand times harder than any Roderick Strong chop. Azreal straight brutalizes King with Wilson howling his approval with a blood curdling scream. Azreal defuses a pair futile pinfall attempts with the Ted Bundy. Afterwards, King falls victim to the Curb Stomp. Wilson covers King’s rotting carcass.

– Michael Mosley has shaved his head, but it surely isn’t helping his chances of scoring with Hotlanta’s hottest babes. Jeff Lewis & the Hollywood Brunettes have multiple orgasms while Mosley reads exciting drama. Taco Delgado makes an appearance and is ordered to leave. Kyle Matthews reveals to the Entourage that he has a major starring role out west and needs a replacement. Well lo and behold, his replacement is not other than Jeff Jarrett… wait a minute, it is “Ain’t I Great” Jay “I Wish I Could Be Jeff Jarrett” Clinton. To the Arena, Delgado rolls the red carpet for the Entourage.

3. The Entourage (“the Feature Presentation” Jeff Lewis & “the Drama King” Michael Mosley & “Hollywood Hacksaw” Andrew Alexander & “2 Hot 4 TV” Kyle Matthews) w/”Ain’t I Great” Jay Clinton & “Where’s My” Taco Delgado defeated “I Used to be a Kiwi” Alan Funk & “the Ring Trotter” Kareem Abdul-Jamar & Chip “Dew or Die” Day & “the Obsession” Caleb Konley.

The Entourage understands the concept that greatness doesn’t happen over night and they want to expound as the match goes on. However, whenever you have an insurance policy in what is a bootleg Jeff Jarrett, it’s enough of a distraction to help the Entourage gain the upper hand on Conley. Funk eventually receives the hot tag and wipes out the Entourage with dropkicks, chops, and backdrops. Moments later, Mosley connects with an inverted Ace crusher on Jamar for the victory. Afterwards, Funk pushes Clinton aside as a small measure of revenge.

– Oh no, Greg Hunter is traveling the back roads of Bucksnort, Tennessee without a camera crew in search of Jessco Blue. Now when you think of Bucksnort, you think of Bunkhouse Buck, “Dirty” thingy Slater, Colonel Robert Parker and Sherri Martel. Now that was interesting faction back in the early Nitro days. Matthews looks for Blue and runs into a crazy woman. Supposedly she is related or is his wife. Who knows? She threatens to call the law if Matthews doesn’t leave. Matthews obliges by running like a bat out of Hades as we cut to a commercial. We’re going to have to wait and see where this leads.

4. “0% Body Fat” Truitt Fields defeated “the Butcher of Pyongyang” Kimo w/Jeff G. Bailey via countout to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title.

Bailey unmasks Kim Jong-Il’s personal bodyguard. Kimo immediately assaults the TV champion and maintains the advantage with shear brutality. Fields makes a brief comeback by stunning Kimo and knocking him down a flying shoulder tackle. Fields’ momentum is crushed with a missed clothesline and a German suplex. Kimo sets up for up the 7 Fingers of Death, but the NWA Arena goes black with Judas’s music blaring over the PA system. When the lights turn back on, Bailey soils himself when he discovers a casket. Kimo looks inside to find a disturbing image. (Take note newbies, Kimo & Bailey had great facial expressions here.) As the referee calls for the countout finish, Kimo picks up the ring steps in a gorilla press slam position. Tempers heads out to prevent anything from happening while Bailey escapes to the back after placing Kimo’s mask back on.

CLOSING THOUGHTS: Good show as usual that advances the storylines heading into Hardcore Hell. This show gets extra points for the T & M show segment. It bordered on the end of being long, but highly entertaining. Main event accomplished what it needed with Bailey’s and Kimo’s facial expressions selling like a million bucks.
