Former WWE Smackdown head writer and ECW father Paul Heyman has teased a tell-all story concerning the actual birth of The Undertaker in WWE in the following message posted on his Facebook page:
Heyman Hustle 90 DAYS TIL AN UNDERTAKING
Paul E bribes his way out of a heart punch
at The Meadowlands — WCW — August, 1990.
3 months later, The Undertaker was born. There’s
a HUGE story that’s never been told (Hulk Hogan’s
version is way off) about how Mark jumped to WWE.
Paul promises to tell that story one day. Hmmmmm….
Nick’s Note: From what I have heard in the past, Hulk Hogan has always claimed that he "discovered" The Undertaker on the set of Suburban Commando and brought him into the then WWF. This never made sense to me because the film was shot one year after The Undertaker debuted with the company, so I don’t see how Hogan could have ever claimed that he brought The Dead Man into the promotion.
Back in 1992, before he was employed by WWE, Bruce Prichard had a radio show, and when he was asked by someone why WCW would make such a mistake by letting The Undertaker jump-ship to WWF, Prichard explained that the real story behind The Dead Man moving over to WWF was something that only he, Vince McMahon, The Undertaker and Paul Heyman knew. But because Prichard was "sworn to secrecy," he could not reveal details behind the story. Now, 19 years later, it appears as if Paul Heyman is ready to let the cat out of the bag. That should make for a VERY interesting read!
