Breaking News: IWF to Be ‘Ceasing All Operations’

The following is a press release issued by IWF Promoter A.T. Huck:

It is with deep regret that I have to announce the ceasing of all operations of any further IWF shows, beginning with the cancellation of the upcoming November 22 event. Due to a struggling state wide economy and a seemingly lack of fan support.

As some of you may know, I work in the auto industry. Car sales are down drastically, to the point where it’s difficult to maintain my personal finances, let alone the up front cost of running shows. The last several shows were subsidized out of my own pocket.

I make this decision with much hesitation and humility. Professional wrestling is my life and love. Please believe me that for close to two decades, I have done everything I could possibly do (within my means) to bring a viable, thriving product to the Michigan Wrestling scene.

I am not comfortable with just running shows for the sake of running shows. When I put my name on a show; I want it to be a ‘stand alone’ product with talent that you don’t see in other promotions in Southeast Michigan. Maintaining those standards is of the upmost priority for me. Unfortunately, talent that stands alone is costly and I cannot keep covering the costs out of my own pockets forever.

I intended on bringing you IWF wrestling seasonally (Sept-May), as a way of reducing costs. We had some good things planned.

The September 27th show was promoted for 4 months straight! With all the work involved in promoting it, a mere 40 fans showed any interest. A promotion cannot survive with numbers like that.

I’d like to thank everyone who sacrificed to make most of the shows as good as they were.

If, no when things change, I will be in touch. I will see you all again!!

Sincerely,

A.T. Huck
