The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Elijah Burke’s release was most likely the result of minimal creative team support. When Burke was wrestling on Smackdown, he initially had the support of Court Bauer, who was writing for the show at the time. ECW head writer Paul Heyman then asked that Burke be brought over to his brand, and within several weeks he was given a solid push from both Heyman and Dave Lagana, who was also a strong supporter of Elijah. However, Paul Heyman eventually left WWE, following 2007 Dave Lagana was fired, and Court Bauer quit the company. Burke was then left with little to no support from the creative team, and was pulled off television shortly after memorial day.
