Today in Memoriam: Gene Stanlee (88, 2005).

Great Championship Wrestling results from September 18 in Phenix City, AL, at the Gr8 Sk8 Plex with paid attendance reported as 125: Tex Monroe pinned Shaun Banks. “That 80’s Guy” John Bogie pinned Murder One (Orion Bishop & Wicked Nemesis were barred from the building). Kareem-Abdul Jamar pinned Ron Stalker (with Princeton Gainey III). J-Rod beat GCW Interstate Champion Sonny Siaki by disqualification. Micah Taylor (with Tracy Taylor) beat Cru Jones and Johnny Swinger and Bull Buchanan in a four way match to win the GCW Heavyweight Championship.

GCW returns September 25 to the GR8 SK8 Plex in Phenix City, with the following matches announced: GCW Heavyweight Champion Micah Taylor will defend the title against Shaun Banks, Johnny Swinger battles Bull Buchanan in their first singles match since the GCW Fred Ward Memorial 2007, GCW Tag Team Champions “That 80’s Guy” John Bogie & Kareem-Abdul Jamar defend the titles against The Merchants of Death (Orion Bishop & Murder One with Wicked Nemesis).

GCW will once again be teaming with the “God Bless Fort Benning” event in downtown Columbus, GA, in November. More details will be available as the event draws closer.

AWA World-1 South held an event in Ellaville, GA, on September 20. Here are the results: Pain defeated Less Fortunate, Cru Jones defeated Chic Donovan via DQ, Los Pierka defeated Less Fortunate, making him 0 for 2 for the night, Peggy Lee Leather defeated Fantasy and Stephanie Starr in a three-way match, and Jake Slater defeated JROD to retain the Southern Heavyweight Championship. Attendance was 101 paid.

W1S presents their third annual Old-School Tag Team Tournament, to be held in Buck’s Place on November 8, in Ellaville. Seating has been improved in the arena and it will hold around 450 people by bell time. Here are the teams already announced: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson), The New Heavenly Bodies (Vito Denucci & Chris Nelson), The Heartbreak Express. Double Deuce (Ciatso and Cannon), Nick Fame and Nooie Lee, and the Old School Wrecking Crew (Scott Davis and Mike Patrick). Four other teams will be added. There will also be a match for the Southern Heavyweight Championship.

Fusion Tradition Wrestling results from September 20 at the Stronghold in Sparta, TN: Madd Dogg beat Chris Havoc, AC Frost beat Standard Wrestling Guy in a Loser Leaves Town match, Patrick Colvett got the win over Logan Shane, FTW Tradition title match: Jed Anderson beat Josh Frozt to retain the title, Mike Promo defeated Toby Farley and Dirty J in a 3 way elimination match, with Promo beating Dirty J first then Farley, â<80><9c>Standard Protocolâ<80> Duane Sherrill interviewed Billy Merciless, â<80><9c>Alpha Dogâ<80> Rocky Mac beat Jack Madrox, FTW Tag Team title match: Cult of Personality beat the New York Rockers to retain the titles, FTW Fusion Title match: Lord Frost beat Strange by DQ after Rocky Mac attacked Lord Frost, In an unsanctioned Lights Out 4 table Death Match. Tables topped with barb wire, thumb tacks, and weapons. Mike Promo made Billy Merciless submit for the win. Next show is October 4 at the Stronghold with Chuck Taylor vs. Ricochet.

United States Wrestling Organization / ATL Wrestling results from September 20 in Nashville, TN, at the Stadium Inn. Their tale of woe at the gate continues with attendance of 17 and that was up from last week. Anthony Wayne beat Violent T via submission, Psycho Medic & Dyronic beat Davey Wright & Stevie King when Medic pinned Wright, Travis Starr beat Chris Norte by DQ when Norte escaped an abdominal stretch by pulling ref Boogie into Starr, knocking him down, Kid Dynamite beat Anthony Wayne, ATL Tag Team Champions Richard Lowe & Kevin Dunn beat White Tiger & Derrick Neal in a 2/3 falls match (third fall was a DQ on Tiger after ref Boogie found Lowe’s chain in Tiger’s vicinity after pinning Lowe).

The next Peachstate Wrestling Alliance event will be at the Bremen Rec Center in Bremen, GA, on September 27. Advertised: “Bullet” Bob Armstrong vs. The Lethal Luchador in a mask vs. mask match. “Action” Mike Jackson vs. Dany Only. Ace Rockwell vs. JT Talent. In a Southern Championship title match, The Ultimate Dragon defends vs. a mystery opponent. Also scheduled to appear is BG James. Doors open at 6:30 and bell time is 7:30. Tickets are $10 and kids 7 & under get in for free. Advance tickets can be purchased at Papa Johns on the day of the event at Papa Johns at 5:30 for $8.
