The Rock A Top Choice To Star In Upcoming Michael Bay Film

The RockVariety.com is reporting that Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson is a top choice by Michael Bay to star in Bay's upcoming coming "Pain and Gain?" The story also notes that Mark Whalberg was also in negotations to co-star in the film, however his busy schedule has forced him to pass on the project. The following are highlights from the article:

"Which muscular stars did Michael Bay first call for his darkly comedic bodybuilding pic "Pain and Gain?" His fellow WME clients and "The Other Guys" co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, the latter of whom is in early talks to topline Bay's low-budget (by his standards) laffer.

While both thesps have discussed the film with Bay, Wahlberg's busy schedule forced him to pass on the project Monday afternoon and he is no longer expected to pursue the project. Johnson remains a frontrunner for one of the two lead roles, though sources caution that it's still early in the casting process.

Based on a Miami New Times article from 1999, "Pain and Gain" will follow a pair of Florida bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong." You can read more by clicking on the above link.
