TNA Genesis PPV Results (1/13) – Did Jeff Hardy Beat the Odds to Retain the World Title?

(7) Christopher Daniels vs. James Storm

Comcast cut out for a few minutes. When the feed came back, Daniels was in control with Storm on the mat. Kazarian is still acting cheer leader on the outside. Storm fires back with an atomic drop, a knee strike and a big neckbreaker combo. Storm comes off the top turnbuckle, getting some good elavation with a diving elbow drop. He tries for Closing Time, but Daniels avoids it and takes him down with a flying clothesline.

Daniels spends a little too much time celebrating with Kazarian, and gets hoisted up for the Eye of the Storm, but Daniels somehow kicks out at 2-and-9/10ths. Storm hits Closing Time, and charges up for the Last Call. Daniels ducks under it and hits him with the Angel’s Wings; two-count. Storm hits Closing Time again out of nowhere. Kazarian gets up on the apron, but eats the Last Call superkick. Daniels rolls up Storm and gets his feet on the ropes to steal this match.

Winner: Christopher Daniels

Bully Ray makes his way out with Brooke Hogan. On the way down he has some words with Taz; not bad for a kid from Hell’s Kitchen. Bully talks about being busy with wedding invitations, and trying to figure out who he’s inviting. He talks about the Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga, but says they need to invite everybody in the Impact Zone. He takes out his phone and records the fans, although Taz points out that he never actually pressed record. He thanks Brooke for saying “yes” and I guess that’s it…

(8) Sting vs. D.O.C.

Sting attacks DOC before he can reach the ring, and the two brawl around ringside. They fight to the entrance ramp, and a few grunts from Aces & Eights attack Sting. The numbers game is too much for Sting, until Hebner makes his way over and forces the Eights to leave. They finally get to the ring, and Hebner rings the bell to start the match.

DOC stalks the Icon as they once again fight around ringside. Sting goes right into the ring steps as DOC breaks the count. The Impact Zone rallies behind Sting, but he can’t mount any sort of momentum. He gets dropped with a huge haymaker from the big man, who immediately locks in the rear chinlock. DOC breaks the hold and starts to blatantly choke Sting, with Hebner forcing him to break it up at the count of four. Sting ducks under a wild right hand, and plants DOC with the Scorpion Death Drop. Stinger Splash connects in the corner, followed by another Scorpion Death Drop. Sting wins it via pinfall.

Winner: Sting

After the match, the Aces & Eights pull DOC from the ring and surround Sting. Bully Ray makes his way out and chases them all off with a steel chain. The two celebrate in the ring.
