Isenberg’s Road To WrestleMania Part 3: “Legends of WrestleMania”

Show Stealers and Memory Makers

legends of wrestlemaniaHulk Hogan

Was it Hulkamania or Wrestlemania that really cashed in more for Vince McMahon and the WWE? You could argue that neither would have been as big without the other. Hulk Hogan was the first guy to really cross mainstream media into the world of Professional Wrestling. Look at what Hogan has done, bodyslamming Andre The Giant, creating more stars in the process like Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage, and coming back for a dream match against The Rock. I have never been the biggest fan, but money tells the story about Hulk Hogan. Hogan started it all, cashed in immensely, and made Wrestlemania more than an event. It was an attraction, a spectacle, and an event that you COULD…NOT…MISS. He carried the event because of his drawing power for over a decade, and holds the record of maximum main event matches at Wrestlemania. The grand stage for one of the grandest in history, that is what Hulk Hogan did. This year, Hogan returns home. As the host of WrestleMania, Hogan is going to be a huge attraction and will be in a right situation to succeed. Who will be the heel that Hogan hits the big boot to? Let the debate begin!

Shawn Michaels

He has the nickname, the credibility, and the charisma to carry an entire Wrestlemania event. Shawn Michaels earned that name because of the jaw-dropping moments he gave us at Wrestlemania. When his childhood dream came true after arguably the best Wrestlemania match of all time, Shawn Michaels showed us everything he had in a match against Bret Hart. His dedication after a serious injury shows me that he has the heart and is one of the best ever. He even made a match against Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania 22 pretty entertaining, and followed that up with John Cena, Ric Flair, and two Undertaker instant classics. Not extremely strong, he made us believe that The Undertaker could possibly lose. We did not believe that for years, and I am sure the fans can never be fooled like that again.
