Backstage Details on How Rey Mysterio’s Current WWE Contract Situation Could Get Even More Complicated

rey mysterioAs we have been reporting the past few weeks, things are getting quite complicated with Rey Mysterio and WWE, and there is the possibility the two sides could go to court if they are unable to iron out Mysterio’s current contract issues.

When Mysterio’s current deal expired a few months ago, he and Triple H had a phone call, during which Mysterio said he did not want to re-sign, and the two had a handshake agreement to part ways.

As things stand, WWE made the decision to renew Mysterio’s deal for another year even though Mysterio did not want to re-sign with WWE, as the company felt he owed them time due to injury.

According to The Wrestling Observer, things could get even more complicated as Mysterio is still out with a hand injury, and is unable to compete. Therefore, he is unable to begin serving the extra year on his deal, which could enable WWE to renew him for even more time when his already renewed deal expires next summer.

Paglino: Given Mysterio’s desire to leave the company and work elsewhere, possibly in AAA, it will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Honestly I can understand both sides of the coin here. I can understand WWE feeling they’ve lost money due to Mysterio’s ongoing injury issues, but at the same time, since he is so injury prone, I can understand Mysterio not wanting to work the WWE schedule anymore simply because it’s too difficult.

Hopefully the two sides can work something out which will most importantly prevent Mysterio from sustaining further injuries and requiring more surgeries.
