3/1 WRESTLEZONE RECAP: Brock Lesnar Storms Off Raw, Rey Mysterio Released, Vince Russo Swerved, #GiveDivasaChance & More

Rey Mysterio is a Free Man

Mysterio.JPGRey Mysterio was finally granted his release from WWE this week. While it may have come as a shock to some fans, this was a LONG time coming.

Mysterio’s contract was up in early 2014, but Vince McMahon exploited a loophole in his deal to keep him around, as the company believed he owes them dates for all the time he spent injured. That said, he hasn’t worked a single televised show since April 7th.

It’s believed Rey Rey will be debuting with Lucha Underground the next time they run television tapings, as Alberto El Patron has been teasing a “major name” all year; one that got him to sign a deal with the promotion. His asking rate for indie dates is astronomical, so it’s not likely you’ll be seeing the former WWE Champion at your local armory.
