Hideo Itami Update; Why He Was Selected To Win The NXT Tournament, More News On Recently Departed NXT Talent

Hideo Itami was selected as the eventual winner of the NXT tournament at the last minute.

The tournament, which guaranteed the winner a spot in the Andre The Giant memorial battle royal, was originally going to feature Finn Balor or Adrian Neville as the winner. It’s being reported Itami was pegged as the winner once the battle royal was confirmed for the Wrestlemania 31 Kickoff preshow, since Tatsumi Fujinami was getting a lot of coverage from the Japanese press due to his Hall of Fame induction.

As seen on Monday Night RAW, Neville ended up getting called up and making his main roster debut in a win versus Curtis Axel.

NXT Departure

Joe Robinson, aka NXT’s CJ Parker, made the decision to ask for his WWE release because he reportedly wanted to get out of developmental. It’s being said he wanted to make a name for himself outside of WWE, and possibly make a move to wrestle internationally to improve himself.

Another reason for his departure is Robinson didn’t want to be seen as a talent “stuck” in developmental who wouldn’t progress to the next level.
