7/26 Wrestlezone Recap: Hulk Hogan Dominates the News, WWE Scouting Talent, Top Star Leaves TNA, GFW Launches & More

WWE Scouting at PWG

Reps from WWE were at the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla show in Reseda, California this past week, including William Regal and world champion Seth Rollins. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this story – it was Regal who scouted Kevin Steen (Owens) at a PWG show in 2013.

The Young Bucks faced Jack Evans and Angelico in the main event. Other notable talents worth scouting include Ricochet (under contract with Lucha Underground), Mike Bailey, Tomasso Ciampa, Rich Swann, Andrew Everett, Johnny Gargano, Joey Ryan, Candice LeRae – OK, so anyone who works a match at a PWG show is worth scouting.

Global Force Wrestling Launches

Global Force Wrestling has officially launched, as they put on their first television taping event in Las Vegas this past week in front of a surprisingly large crowd that reacted to everything and anything the promotion put in front of them. Tournaments ran to set up contenders for each of their new championships, which we assume will all be decided at the next taping.

GFW brought in a ton of great talent, including the recently released James Storm and Austin Aries, Bobby Roode on loan from TNA, KUSHIDA from New Japan, Mickie James, UFC legend Chael Sonnen, the former Chris Masters, Justin Gabriel, Sonjay Dutt, Magnus, and a bunch of new, younger talent to build on for the future. All the feedback coming in was overly positive.

Here’s the thing – they still haven’t announced an actual television deal.
