Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was reportedly the person who pushed for WWE to sign new rookie Jerome Turner.

Turner, who has a boxing background, was first discovered by The Rock’s father, Rocky Johnson, and Pablo Marquez. He was referred to as a “giant”, and could be “the next Big Show”.

WWE’s live event at the Forum in Los Angeles ended up drawing 8,000 fans after a reported low number of ticket sales.

Brock Lesnar’s appearance was thought to help sales, but it was noted that the Staples Center in LA had just hosted WWE Hell In A Cell two months prior, a possible reason for low sales. The show did end up selling a lot of walk up tickets the day of the show, which was most likely helped by ticket deals and more advertising in the local area, and on Smackdown.
