More Details On Daniel Bryan’s Possible Wrestling Plans Before Announcing His Retirement, WWE Swerved Season 2 Confirmed

Daniel Bryan

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan had been putting a lot of thought into his post-WWE career before he announced his retirement this week.

As noted, Bryan reportedly asked for his release from WWE and was denied, but he was apparently looking to go back to work with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling if he wasn’t cleared for a WWE return. Bryan was not too concerned with the differences in his WWE contract and indy bookings, and reportedly thought he could help pro wrestling overall by using his star power to help grow these other smaller companies.

According to the Observer, there were reports of Bryan following CMLL wrestling and studying it heavily, so much so that he was growing his hair so that he could go to the promotion and do a “hair versus mask” match at an anniversary show. These reports are similar to statements made by Bryan in an IGN interview in October of last year, where he said he would entertain the idea of an indy run if he wasn’t cleared by WWE.

WWE Swerved

It was noted in today’s WWE 2015 fourth quarter report that a new season of the WWE Swerved series would return to WWE Network.

The press release confirmed the new season of Swerved, which was previously hinted at but remained unclear. Last summer there were rumors of Swerved being cancelled due to complaints from talent involved:

Other exciting original programming coming to the network includes Camp WWE, an animated series (premiering in May), Edge & Christian’s Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, a comedic variety show featuring its titled Superstars and a live special, March to WrestleMania (March 12), as well as a new season of Swerved and new episodes of WWE 24 and Stone Cold Podcast.
