Timing of UFC 200 & WWE Announcing Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam Opponent, John Cena on Why He’s Working a Lighter WWE Schedule

Timing of UFC 200 and WWE Announcing Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam Oppponent

It’s likely no coincidence that WWE announced Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent this week, the same week as Lesnar is returning to the Octagon to face Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

As we noted last night, Dana White addressed the cross promotion between UFC and WWE with Lesnar fighting tonight, and he had the following to say about the deal:

“Yeah. The fact that they did this – I wanted to reciprocate, so yes. And they’re doing [it too]. If you look today, Brock’s weigh-in will be on all social media for WWE. This deal couldn’t have worked out any better.”

WWE likely announced Randy Orton as Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent ahead of UFC 200 so that UFC can plug SummerSlam at 200 tonight, and mention who Lesnar’s opponent will be at the big summer event.
