The Miz Talks Heated Exchange with Daniel Bryan, Why Ziggler Shouldn’t Be IC Champ, Says Smackdown is Killing Raw in the Brand Split, More

WWE stars The Miz and Maryse were the guests on this week’s WWE Off the Top Rope segment on ESPN, hosted by Jonathan Coachman. You can watch their appearance in the videos below, and the following are some highlights.

The Miz discussed the WWE brand split, and said Smackdown is killing Raw in every way, as the show has better character development and story lines.

On the subject of losing the IC Title at WWE No Mercy, Miz admitted he might have bit off more than he could chew with Dolph Ziggler, and said he took his focus off Ziggler for a couple seconds and it cost him the title. Miz went on to say that an opponent is everything in WWE, and it’s key to have someone you can play well off of.

Miz then wondered why the person who lost at No Mercy is on Off the Top Rope tonight, and he says it’s because he is the true star between him and Ziggler, and he’s the person people want to see and hear from. While Miz did admit Ziggler can get it done in the ring, he thinks Ziggler doesn’t deserve to be IC Champion because The Miz is the only person for that job.

On the heated exchange he and Daniel Bryan had on Talking Smack, Miz says he was very aggravated that day, and was aggravated in general because he felt WWE was overlooking the IC Title. Miz said too much attention was being paid to the WWE World Title and not enough attention was paid to his title, The IC Title, which has a rich history in WWE. Miz thought maybe the reason why it was being overlooked was because of his past issues with Daniel Bryan, so he decided to make people listen, and they did. Maryse added Bryan should have more respect for her husband.

Miz was asked what the most important thing is when developing new stars in WWE, and Miz said it’s having a combination of mic skills, ring skills, and being able to work as hard as you can and do whatever the company asks, even if it’s wake up at 6am to do media.
