According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, many people backstage in WWE want Sasha Banks versus Charlotte to be the final match at the WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, but Vince McMahon is reportedly against the idea.
It was noted that an argument in favor of this could be made due to it being a new idea, progressive, and it taking place in Sasha Banks’ hometown gives it a great chance to get over more than anywhere. The Newsletter mentioned Vince McMahon was ‘digging his heels’ on the matter which has frustrated many people, and it’s led to some in fighting between each side.
It was said that Triple H is backing the creative team that wants the match to go last, pushing the idea women could be the real main event and and it could elevate the WWE Women’s divisions. As of Tuesday, the odds were against the match going last, but it was said Vince could change his mind and nothing is set in stone yet.
The Observer quoted someone close to the situation who said: “And what everyone needs to understand is that there’s no one who understands the outside less than the man who makes all the decisions. We just have to find a respectful way to change his mind.”
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez also discussed this topic on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, noting Vince was still alone in being ‘dead set’ against the idea, calling it a ‘power play’, although he could still be possibly talked into the idea.
How did Sasha Banks initially react to the ‘Sasha’s ratchet’ chants directed at her?
