WWE Smackdown Results (5/2): Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho for the US Title, Becky Lynch Chooses Sides, Jinder Mahal Makes Another Statement

Jinder Mahal vs. Sami Zayn

Sami is in total control as the match starts, out maneuvering the bigger man and chain grappling him to the mat. Jinder shoves him off but is caught with a pop-up dropkick that sends him to the floor, recovering with the Bollywood Boys as we go to commercial break. When we come back Mahal has his opponent in a side headlock. They show footage of the Boys getting involved during the break, causing a distraction and letting the #1 contender take control. He hits a big powerslam and starts stomping away at him in the ropes. Jinder levels him with a series of shoulder tackles and goes back to the headlock, throwing knees to the back. They fight up to the top rope and Sami blocks a superplex, throwing wild rights and lefts, but is caught with a high knee strike coming back down. Zayn hits a series of lariats, followed by a springboard crossbody for two. They trade pinning combination for close nearfalls, and Sami hits a wicked tornado DDT to set up for the Helluva Kick. Sunil Singh pulls Jinder out of the ring to save the match, and while the referee deals with him, Samir distracts Sami Zayn. Mahal attacks him from behind and hits the cobra clutch slam for the pinfall. Winner: Sami Zayn

Backstage Segment

Becky Lynch is shown walking backstage, and runs into the gaggle of heels – Natalya, Carmella, James Ellsworth and Tamina Snuka. Natalya says they’re just watching out for Becky, and they complain that Charlotte came over to Smackdown Live and was just handed opportunities without earning them. She reminds Becky how many times Charlotte has screwed her over, and asks her to join them in their quest to make Smackdown theirs again. Becky says she never thought about things that way, and promises to think about it.
