Potential Spoiler For Wrestlemania 35 Host City

USA Today’s Giants Wire blog posted today what could be a reveal of what could be the host city for next year’s Wrestlemania:

The @Wrestlevotes Twitter account, which has broken reliable wrestling news in the past, also confirmed the news of the press conference.

If this is true, WWE would return ‘home’ to the New York / New Jersey area with their annual ‘Super Bowl’ of sports entertainment returning to MetLife Stadium. This is the same stadium used by NFL’s New York Jets and New York Giants. Wrestlemania 29 took place at MetLife Stadium headlined by a rematch between Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson and John Cena, in 2013. It was very successful event as Newsday reported at the time, WWE’s marquee event and associated festivities brought in $101.2 million for the area.

There has been chatter of Philadelphia trying to lure ‘Mania back to PA, but New York has such a deep connection to WWE’s past with so many big events at Madison Square Garden including the first ever Wrestlemania. In terms of making ‘Mania  an event that can draw fans from around the world and be marketed on such a massive scale, WWE choosing one of the largest media markets in the world makes perfect sense.
