On wrestling legends constantly criticizing “flippy” wrestlers:

Dezmond Xavier: I take it as something similar to how players feel about basketball these days. You know how the three ball is kind of the primary way of scoring. A lot of guys are more high flyers now. That is really just attributed to the athleticism guys have nowadays days. I think it’s the evolution of wrestling at this moment. It kind of started when the X-Division first came around and showed glimpses of it. Now the next generation has pushed it to the next level. We push the boundaries of gravity and the realms of reality, I guess.

On how he first got his start in Impact Wrestling:

DX: I was brought in through a friend of mine, Moose. Moose got me a tryout match. From there it blossomed into me being in that six-man for the X-Division Championship. I was thrust into that. They had faith in what I can do, and they felt I could deliver immediately. I just needed to step up and prove it.

On what it was like winning the GFW Super X cup a few months after his debut:

DX: Being in the Super X cup was amazing. That was a tournament that is very well-known and synonymous with the top, the cream of the crop at that moment for high-flyers or any style wrestler, honestly. For me to be a part of it was awesome but for me to win it was life-changing. I still have the shirt that I wore throughout the entire tournament. It something that I definitely hold very dear to my heart.
