Ronda Rousey has been in WWE for roughly 6 months. In those 6 months her two matches, to which all fans have had access on the WWE Network, have been believable as well as different.

There is a special feel to a Ronda Rousey match and an aura of legitimacy to a Ronda Rousey interview segment. That same feeling was there once with Brock Lesnar, however, with Brock Lesnar showing up once every few months and doing the same shtick every appearance on RAW, I don’t believe the same aura around Brock Lesnar in 2018 is what it once was in WWE.

As WWE heads in to WrestleMania 35 there is one match, above all, that can bring the casual fan, the diehard fan, and the mainstream acceptance that WWE craves: Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair.

Ronda Rousey is a draw. She brings eyeballs to WWE that no other athlete on the roster can do right now.

WWE has promoted the “Women’s Revolution” for a few years now and female professional wrestlers no longer have a negative connotation like they have had in decades prior. The women’s roster is a strong, powerful, athletic group of professional wrestlers that have been able to have matches and develop in a way that has legitimized the division.

At the helm of that has been Charlotte Flair. Whether it be by having amazing matches with Sasha Banks at Hell in a Cell or stealing the show with Asuka at WrestleMania 34, Charlotte has helped solidify the division with her work over the last three years.

Charlotte Flair is an excellent professional wrestler and has the appeal that WWE covets in the mainstream press. Most recently evident by her being the first WWE wrestler to appear in the ESPN Body Issue. Fans recognize her due to her work in WWE as much as her last name. She’s a great foil to Ronda Rousey.

WWE has always touted themselves as a company who takes calculated risks and WrestleMania 35 is an excellent platform for WWE to take one massive swing for the fences and have Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair in the main event.
