2011 WWE Draft – Exclusive, In-Depth Analysis, Pt. 1

The Miz to Smackdown/Alberto Del Rio to Raw

"A Champion Shuffle"

Chris Cash:
We reported earlier this week that WWE Creative has tentative plans for a Del Rio/Cena match at SummerSlam.  That has led to speculation that we could see the Miz and ADR switch brands this Monday.  The only other option is John Cena moving back to Smackdown.  This is the interesting part of this year’s draft as we still have the Extreme Rules ppv six days "after" the draft takes place.  Alberto Del Rio still hasn’t won the title yet.  Clearly, if Vince’s plan was for a SummerSlam match between Del Rio and John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship, that’s what would happen.  However, I see it going another way.

I whole-heartedly believe that John Cena will be a champion when he faces the Rock at WrestleMania 28.  It’s just another element to make it the biggest wrestling event of all time.  Cena won’t be the World Heavyweight Champion, though.  Vince will have his most prestigious title up for grabs on that night and we know which one that is.  If you want Alberto Del Rio and John Cena for SummerSlam, let Christian win next Sunday and bring Del Rio over in the draft.  Personally, I don’t see that happenening.  I believe both Miz and Del Rio stay put on their respective brands.  I also believe each win their matches at Extreme Rules.

As for John Cena, he isn’t leaving Raw.  The Rock will be on Raw any and every time he shows up between now and ‘Mania and Cena has to be there everytime to continue the slow build until next year.

Justin LaBar: We know The Rock will be appearing on RAW the night after Extreme Rules and that means Cena must stay on RAW. Its not just about that particular day but all the build up to WrestleMania 28 between Rock & Cena is going to take place on RAW.

I don’t see The Miz moving off of RAW either. I think Alberto Del Rio will be the big name that RAW acquires while RAW sends several higher profile talents to Friday nights such as a Randy Orton. Alberto Del Rio gets drafted to RAW which then adds that suspense for Extreme Rules that if he wins the WHC, RAW could have both world titles. Del Rio won’t win the WHC and he comes to RAW the next night and in time it will set up for Del Rio vs Cena at SummerSlam.

Nick Paglino:
I agree that John Cena and The Miz are likely to remain on Raw; for two reasons. One is that I still fully believe that WWE considers Raw to be the "A" show, so the company’s A+ player, John Cena, and its top prize, the WWE Title, will not leave Monday nights.

At this point, it seems most probable that we will see Del Rio make the move to Raw with Orton moving to Smackdown. If someone like Miz or Cena does move tonight, my bet is that it won’t last long and we’ll see either or both of them back in Raw very soon. Remember, WWE likes to make drastic changes sometimes then renege on them just a few weeks later.
