Booking to Potential – Breaking Point

Christopher Mariscal

Up until now, I have booked storylines, but haven’t really booked any matches.  This is going to be a bit of an experiment, so I’m sorry if it isn’t as riveting as BTP usually is.  We’ll give it a try and see how we like it.  Please bear in mind I’ve never booked a match before, so this all will probably seem fairly pedestrian…

I’m not going to make any predictions for Breaking Point because it serves just about as much function as guessing the plot for the next “Transformers” movie.  Either way, it’s going to satisfy and disappoint all at the same time.  Even if it’s amazing, we the fans will be hypercritical.  It will give us some of but not enough of the childhood nostalgia feeling we’d like to get from watching.  And both Michael Bay and Vince McMahon are more interested in their own fixations on bigger is better, scantily clad women, and a severely outdated notion of what “shock and awe” are.

Chris Jericho and the Big Show vs. MVP and Mark Henry

Jericho and the Big Show should retain in this situation.  Both teams are ramshackle mashups, but WWE won’t do their championships or the other teams on their roster any favors by a title change here.  The best thing they can do is build Jericho and the Big Show as a credible tag team so that they can put over a younger team to re-boot the division.

Formal Championship introductions are made in the ring.

The finish comes when MVP gets the hot tag and starts stomping on the Big Show’s weakened leg.  With the Big Show writhing in pain, MVP knocks Jericho off the ring apron and goes for the people’s ballin’.  As he slows down in front of the Big Show, Jericho runs in and hits the Codebreaker on MVP.  As the referee attempts to shuffle Jericho out of the ring, Mark Henry comes in to attack the Big Show, but Show manages to pull down the ropes and send the World’s Strongest Man crashing to the outside.  Big Show scrambles to his feet and hits the Cobra Clutch Backbreaker for the three count on MVP.

Winner and still WWE Unified Tag Team Champions-
Chris Jericho and the Big Show.
